Overview

This imposing former bank edifice on the Royal Mile was built in 1923, converted into a hotel in the 1960s and wonderfully refurbished in 1998. Each of the nine sumptuous rooms celebrate the impact of a famous Scot, including James Watt, Robert Burns, Rennie Mackintosh and Robert Louis Stevenson. On the ground floor, the fine atmosphere of Logie Baird's invites the public to turn off their televisions and do something less boring instead.
