Where To Stay

add to Travel Bag (NEW)

Tulsa is divided into many fine business and cultural districts, and each has a wide range of places in which to stay while visiting the city. South Tulsa, with its increasing popularity as a shopping and dining area, holds the most hotels, but business-centered sectors like downtown and north Tulsa also attract a fair share of lodgings.

Downtown

Downtown Tulsa hotels reflect the history of the city as a center of black-gold wealth. The Adam's Mark Hotel is Tulsa's largest, and it offers expert customer service. In addition to all the homey comforts it offers, the hotel has an on-site restaurant, and is located just across the street from the Performing Arts Center. Holiday Inn Express also strives to give guests close proximity to noted attractions, specifically the nationally-known Gilcrease Museum. The Doubletree has a location in the downtown area, a branch named the chain's "Hotel of the Year" in 1998. And yes, this Doubletree has the same tasty chocolate-chip cookies. The staff at Hotel Ambassador call it "La Dolce Vita," and you sure will be living the sweet life here. This historic lodging combines old-style opulence with the modern conveniences of meeting rooms and complimentary transportation. Ramada Inn Downtown Plaza has a historical feature of its own. Being located in the heart of downtown's Art Deco architectural center, this Ramada is the perfect place to stay if you are interested in touring these grand old neighborhoods.

Midtown

Be forewarned before you book a room at a hotel in midtown—you probably won't be in it for long! This Tulsa district is full of attractions, like River Parks, Woodward Park and numerous shopping boutiques, sure to capture your attention. Hawthorn Suites is perhaps the most elegant, with features like a daily cocktail and hors d'oeuvres hour, on-site fitness center and rooms with fireplaces and kitchenettes. The upscale trend continues with Baymont Inn and Suites and the Fairfield Inn Central. Midtown also has the distinction of holding several notable bed and breakfasts, including the Lantern Inn, McBirney Mansion Inn and Renaissance Cottage Inn, where personal service and relaxation are the top priorities.

North Tulsa

The hotels in this district are mainly centered around Tulsa International Airport, the travel hub of the city, as well as Mohawk Park, the vast nature center that also houses the Tulsa Zoo. The two largest properties are the upscale Hilton Garden Inn Airport and the Radisson Inn Airport. These two establishments sit just outside the airport itself, allowing guests to enjoy convenience without sacrificing luxury. The popular Comfort Inn chain has a strong presence here as well, with its signature Comfort Inn and Comfort Suites. Both have only 56 rooms available, which offers visitors a more intimate environment than could be found in one of Tulsa's other mammoth hotel complexes. If you want to stay comfortably close to the airport, but still want easy access around town, check out the cluster of accommodation choices found at the junction of I-244 and Highway 169. Perennial favorites like the affordable Best Western Airport and La Quinta Airport sit just off the freeway and for a great room at a bargain rate, try the Days Inn Airport.

South Tulsa

T-town's south side is booming, but with hotels, not oil. Fancy digs abound at places like Amerisuites and Embassy Suites, and if you are looking for a little extra pampering during your stay, look no further than Doubletree Hotel at Warren Place. This large hotel reaches high into the blue Tulsa sky, its stature only accentuated by the exclusive hilltop location. A top-notch staff provides all the services you would expect from a luxury hotel. You can see how Tulsa lives up to its "Green Country" nickname during a stay at one of the two Southern Hills hotels: Marriott Southern Hills and Hilton Southern Hills. These two establishments, nestled in the neighborhood's emerald bluffs, are close to the Arkansas River. Just blocks away are the Brookside and Utica Square neighborhoods, both of which have some of the city's best shops and fine dining experiences. The ever-popular Holiday Inn chain has its Woodland Hills Express hotel in South Tulsa, and other companies equally well-known in the accommodations business, names like Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn, Howard Johnson Inn and Travelodge have branches here. South Tulsa also has non-traditional accommodation choices. Extended Stay America offers business travelers suite-living with all the comforts of home. These miniature living areas are available on a nightly, weekly or monthly basis, making them a welcome convenience for long-term visitors to the city.

East Tulsa and Central Tulsa

This far side of Tulsa has fewer accommodation choices, but the main one found here, the city's only Sheraton, is of the same high quality as hotels in the heart of the city. A bit removed from the busier districts, this distance can be seen as a benefit, giving guests a more serene environment in which to stay. Besides, you might not want to leave once you see all the services and features this hotel has to offer. Even being located on the east side, the Sheraton is less than 10 minutes away from most Tulsa attractions and chic shopping areas.

Hotels in central Tulsa can be defined in one word: convenience. Interstate 44 cuts right through this district, and affordable accommodations line the roadway. Marriott's deluxe Courtyard hotel is located at the junction of I-44 and Highway 51, a position that makes travel to nearly any part of the city a breeze. Guesthouse Suites Plus takes an approach to service that combines luxury touches like complimentary breakfast in the morning and finger foods in the evening with necessary travel practicalities like in-room kitchenettes and airport transportation. The city's largest Holiday Inn, a Select design, can be found here, as well as a smaller Holiday Inn Express. Best Western also has two hotels in central Tulsa, the neighboring Best Western Trade Winds Central. Both are just blocks from the city's LaFortune Park.

Outside the Tulsa Metro

While there are several chain hotels located in communities surrounding Tulsa, the most prominent lodging outside the metropolitan area is the Inn at Jarrett Farm. Located north of the city in Ramona, this posh bed-and-breakfast has cultivated quite a reputation over the years, as much for its fine rooms as for its on-site gourmet restaurant. Guests can expect to pay a pretty penny for a night of basking in this kind of rustic luxury, but the experience at this one-of-a-kind establishment is definitely worth the price.
