Couldnt recommend highly enough!
My boyfriend and I went to Kirwans Lane last night for my birthday dinner. People are very quick to complain about somewhere when its not good and not so quick when it is, so I felt the need to write about this absolutely fabulous restaurant....where to start? From the minute we walked in the door and were greeted by a smiling helpful waitress it just got better and better. We decided to share a starter and were provided with an extra plate, a lovely touch, every mouthful was to die for, from start to finish. I asked the waitress to recommend a white wine for me, which she got spot on. My other half was drinking water, he was provided with a glass of ice and a spoon to help himself to this, another lovely touch.

Just beautiful
The food was amazing.....I thought the staff were lovely, they have a French manager who just suits the place so much.... The scallops tempura were a first....yummy! It was difficult to choose fom a beautiful array of dishes....definitely a place not to be missed if in Galway. We had a lovely time in Galway and this just was icing on the cake....Can't wait to go back.....scallops to die for!!!

Disappointing!
We went here for our first wedding anniversary based on reviews found on this website. Verdict - a bit disappointing.

Excellent food but.........
Food was excellent and competitively priced when compared to Dublin. Service was fair but the waitresses could do with a smile on their faces every now and then and considering that I was a good bit younger than their regular clientele (i'm 24) the staff seemed to keep their distance from me and concentrate on more mature diners. As a non-wine drinker I was also surprised to be served a pint in a plastic glass. Granted it was the Sunday of Race Week but I think that if you are paying over a hundred euros for a meal for two then you should at least get your drink served in a proper glass.

Great restaurant!
My husband and I went to Kirwan's Lane last week (July 5, 2006)to celebrate our third wedding anniversary. The restaurant is nice, the location is great, the service was good, and the food excellent. The ambiance is simple and modern; nothing ornate or fancy. If calamari is on the menu...get it! It was a special as an appetizer the night we were there and it's the best calamari I've ever had. I had the salmon for the main course and it was great.

Definitely worth a visit
Wonderful food, the lemon sole was so light and the calamari was the best my friend had eaten, the lamb was out of this world. Although very full we managed to eat the cranberry Brule which was fabulous. 3 x3 courses plus wine and water €131.
