We recently visited Margaritaville on our honeymoon. We are Jimmy Buffett fans and being from Illinois, we do not have many opportunities to visit any of the Margaritaville Cafes as there are none in our area. This was our first visit. Being at Margaritaville, I of course ordered a margarita. I was told that my perfectly valid state ID was not acceptable. In Illinois good drivers recieve renewal stickers that are placed on the back of a license rather than going to the DMV to renew. Even though I was 21 before the original license expired I was still denied a drink. The waitress and manager had an issue with Illinois rewarding their good drivers by letting them renew this way. If I had had a DUI I would have been allowed an alcoholic beverage! My new husband tried to explain that we were on our honeymoon, that I had other forms of ID, that I was of age even before my still instated ID had "expired" in the eyes of the staff (it's not actually expired! the renewal sticker is what makes it not expired!) I was still not allowed to order a drink. However, my husband was served beer and was not even ID'd! I had perfectly valid ID and couldn't order a margarita at Margaritaville and my husband was never even carded! Really?! No one from Illinois who goes to the Cafe can order an adult drink if they are a good driver? I was very disappointed and on top of that the food gave me diarrhea! Aside from that when the manager came to speak with us the waitress must have told her it was our anniversary because the manager stated that she would be glad to give us a free dessert, which we did not accept, since it was our anniversary. It wasn't our anniversary, it was our honeymoon as we had already explained and the experience left me wishing we hadn't wasted any part of our honeymoon visiting Margaritaville

I visited Margaritaville in Montego Bay in May of this year. Me and 8 of my friends went there for lunch while on a Carnival Cruise. My credit card #, as well as one of my friends were stolen by the waitress on duty. I was notified of suspicious charges by my bank and cancelled my card the next day, my friend wasn't so lucky and was hit for nearly $4000.00. Margaritaville "investigated", fired their employee, and has since completely refused to accept responsibility in anyway for what happened. We received a couple of emails from, VP of Carribean Operations and then a few weeks later we were told there was no record that they had done anything wrong and that it was now a "police matter." I feel ethically bound to let everyone know that there is the potential for the same thing to happen to you. This was handled poorly and we weren't compensated for any of our losses. Margarritaville didn't even bother to reimburse us for our lunch as a gesture of good faith. We spent countless dollars in cell phone bills from the Carribean. My friend had her account emptied and was left penniless for weeks, all the while Margaritaville refused to accept responsibility. We have copies of our bank statements, cell phone bills, and had our vacations turned upside down by the blatant theft of a paid employee of Margaritaville - Montego Bay Jamaica. BUYER BEWARE!!! If you choose to make Margaritaville in Montego Bay a stop on your vacation, better make sure you pay with cash and hold onto your credit card or you'll be in the same boat as me. As info, the name of the false charges were made to non existent companies called Flava Soul and the other was Renu Coffee Shop. I'll never set foot in another Margaritaville and hope that you choose to not go either unless you are contributing to aiding the economic welfare of thieves.

I had a chance to eat here with my boyfriend and it definately has a "corporate" atmosphere...not that there is anything wrong with that if you like the "cheerful" staff and tables of familys surrounding you then by all means check it out. Umm it is a little pricy when it comes to drinks and food is not that expensive...BUT they do have a great cheesburger. It is indoor and AIRCONDITIONED. Very Crouded all the time and it does have an on site gift shop.
