A long, underground culvert leads you to the visitor's center where exhibits explain the geology, wildlife and plant life of the area. Rio Grande Nature Center is a beautiful place to visit with its walking bridge and cottonwood shaded pathways. This wildlife refuge is situated along the Rio Grande and is a great way to learn about the ecosystem of the Bosque. Take a leisurely stroll, a bike ride or an invigorating hike on one of the walking trails.

From Wonderful to A Paradize
This was such a wonderful surprise. I drove donw to the end of Candelaria and found this protected space. In 1975, I gave birth to my son is a little house on this site. I could still see the remains of the foundation of the little house we used to live in. To find that the whole area is now protected was a marvelous surprise! This is a very nice wildlife sanctuary and I could not have been happier to find it. Unlike in the song which says, "they tore down paradize and put up a parking lot, Albuquerque has made a wonderful place to live, a paradize for all of us! J. M. Bennett formerly of Seattle, Wa area.
