Take an afternoon to picnic in the Retiro!
About four days into our stay in Madrid, we decided to have a picnic in the Parque del Buen Retiro. It was perfect! We stopped by Museo del Jamon and picked up sandwiches, fruit and beer, and headed to the park. It was the perfect way to relax. We took a nap on blankets under the trees near the boating lake. The peace and calm was sooo relaxing after four days of the great hustle and bustle of the rest of Madrid.

A good place in winter
The park is attractive and had some festive elements that my grandchildren really enjoyed, including some unique spinning awings, an elf riding a Christmas snail, and a huge cone of helium balloons.

formal gardens place of tranquility in Madrid especially during the week. On weekends crowded with Madrid inhabitants but exciting with activities like puppet shows and boat rides. Has a little of everything. Clean and a great place when tired from touring and museums.

Tranquillity and good environment
This is the perfect place to have a relaxing day without to go out of the city. You can rent a boat or visit the Chrystal Palace which remember a special cage of birds but now is an exhibition room for modern art. In the beginning of June the park becomes glamorous and welcome the Feria del libro where you can buy any book or meet a famous writer. Each season make it looks different but there is something that never change: its beauty. There are many kinds of trees and plants that become the place the lung of Madrid for that is one of the most visited places in the city.

a nice park
It is a very clean and neat park. Espacially with the lake in the middle of the park, where you can rent a boat. The trees are all cut in a very nice shape.

Parque del retiro
The park's facilities are extremely far apart, there are no bike rentals, there are no exit signs.
