2009-11-22 to 2009-12-30 at 20:15 In the very place where Johann Strauss himself used to direct his orchestra from the position of first violin, the absolute essence of Vienna's classical music can once again be heard every day! The Salonorchester Alt Wien, one of the best-known interpreters of classical Viennese music in Vienna, presents an evening full of Viennese charm with the lilting sound of waltzes, polkas, arias and duets as well as operetta and piano concerto melodies. Accompanied by excellent opera vocalists and our enchanting ballet soloists, Vienna's classical music reveals itself as a living firework display for all the senses. The category VIP includes a reserved VIP seat, a glass of sparkling wine in the concert interval, a Johann Strauss CD and a concert programme booklet. On December 24th, the concert will start at 6 p.m. and the dinner will be served afterwards at 8 p.m..

This is the largest remaining Romanesque church in the world. It takes its name from Saint Saturnin, a Christian martyr, who was tied to a bull and dragged to his death in 250 AD. In 402 his remains, previously kept in the du Taur church, were moved here and a small church, Saint-Exupère, was built around them. Work on the present basilica started around 1080. It is worth visiting for the exterior brickwork, the two crypts, the tympanum over the main door depicting Christ's ascension, and the 800 sculpted column heads. Admission is free.
