Back to Mount Nelson Hotel We can't wait to return ! My wife & I stayed there for our wedding anniversary in 2006. We were upgraded on arrival to the Churchill Suite. Our 10 day stay in the hotel & Cape Town was the most memorable experience of our lives. The food & service was exceptional, the view of Table Mountain incredible. We ran out of superlatives.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 14 2008 Glad we experienced it, won't go back As one of the listings in "1,000 places to see before you die" we wanted to experience this famed hotel. A total waste of money; while it is quite "old world" nice, it is really just ok. The famed afternoon tea does not even come close to the one we had in an aaverage place in London and to my amazement when we asked for toothpaste and shaving cream, we got it, but then a bill for more than $10.00 showed up for them at checkout. You should be able to expect comp. supplies in this category hotel. There are so many wonderful lodge options in Cape Town so we will not go back to this hotel.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 07 2007 Amazing place!!! I just got back from a stay in Cape Town and can honestly say that the Mount Nelson is by far the best establishment in the city!! They staff treat you like royalty from the time you arrive. The rooms were large in size compared to other hotels i've stayed in and the grand architecture and opulence of the place makes you genuinely feel like a king!

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 20 2005 We could not stand the place. The people or not nice. The food is bad and the rooms are small.
