Disappointing
We visited the Rajpoot once last year and were impressed with the ambience and the excellent food, both of which forgave the rather high price. Our meal last night was very poor. Chutney and pickles with poppadoms were served with plastic spoons which we thought was odd. We then had a chicken Jhal Noorpuri which promised to contain 'rarely found herbs and green chillies'. There were no green chillies in the dish and the flavours were that of cheap, old masala with the unmistakable harshness of chilli powder. The manager wasn't interested in our complaint and tried to persuade us that it had been made with 'ground green chillies'. We weren't convinced. Our lamb Mughlai was equally poor, with tough flavourless meat cooked in similar, uninteresting spices. Our coffee was of the instant variety and we were given flannels which were almost cold. Students with deep pockets and an unsophisticated palate might enjoy a meal here, but I'd advise those of you looking for complex flavours and good service to look elsewhere. Rajpoot won a Best in Britain award in 1999 and another this year. Prices are roughly £8-10 for a main dish.

No

Why? / Why Not?
Food below average - cheap flavours and low quality meat. Poor service and quite pricey.

An unpleasant dining experience
We visited the Rajpoot on a Saturday lunchtime and were surprised to find that apart from our group of 8 there was only one other occupied table. Our subsequent experience suggested why that might be.

We wan't seconds!
If you are in Bath and you enjoy Indian food go to Raipoot!!! My husband and I found this one of the best Indian resturants that we had ever been to. We also found it to be a cut above the regular Indian fare that is so common in the U.K. Go and enjoy the food, you won't regret it!

The Raj is rad! :-)
My first experience at an authentic tandoori restaurant and it was exceptional. I cannot say what it was I had as the menu was so full of choices and the descriptions were somewhat enigmatic but it didn't seem to matter what was chosen because all the dishes were excellent. The portions were not huge (at least to our jumbo American tastes) but if you ordered several things, as I think you are supposed to, then you are fine. A wonderful ethnic experience.
