Must-see
A gem of a museum almost rivaling the greats, albeit in a much more intimate setting. Plenty more here than paintings (despite the requisite Monet) - the range of historical periods, cultures, and objects was amazing: samurai swords, mummies, illuminated manuscripts, pre-Columbian gold, Etruscan jewelry, Faberge eggs, a collector's "mermaid" - or was it "dragon"? - and even the saw part of a sawfish! Especially recommend the "Chamber of Wonders" on the 1st floor - we spent more than an hour in just that one room! Lovely architecture. Even the reluctant member of our party (professed to be bored by "art" - and "museums") loved the place.
