Back to Roxburghe (The) Unassuming elegance... When our driver dropped us off, I could barely see the brightly polished brass plaque stating "The Roxbourghe". First clue to the understated quality. The staff at the desk were professional but friendly. Anyone we encountered during our four night stay were very helpful and quite efficient. The location was ideal for sightseeing, dining and wonderful shopping. We walked everywhere and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Surprise. We packed for cold and damp days but was pleasantly surprise at the sunny and warm weather. We will stay here again and plan to take more day trips northward. Only negative - the breakfast buffet never varied. We did not try luncheon nor dinner at the hotel always trying different restaurants nearby.

It is located in a good spot, in the newer portion of town, just a few minutes walk up the hill to the Royal Mile. The rooms were smaller and the bathrooms in our rooms were split with the sinks in the main rooms. This seemed to be due to the age of the hotel, but all in all it was a nice place to stay.
