Highly recommended
We stayed at Hotel Albert 1er last weekend for 3nights and can highly recommend it. It was fantastic value, particulary for it's location. It's 30mins by bus from Toulouse airport (bus runs every 20mins) and is smack bang in the centre of Toulouse, so within very easy reach of all the sights. The staff were extremely warm, welcoming and friendly. The room was basic ensuite, lovely and clean with a lovely comfortable bed and T.V. We didn't have breakfast but ordered tea and room service was speedy. The centre of Toulouse has charisma and charm. The hotel staff have devised information leaflets with details of all the places of interest and recommended restaurants with map, which we found very helpful. Take a stroll around the city, which is very easy to get around by foot, old town and new town, and check out La Basilique Saint-Sernin, Les Abattoirs, La Cathedrale Saint-Etienne and Le Musee Des Augustins. Eat lunch in one of the many cafes or creperies. Rue de Taur is Creperie mile! Eat dinner in Le J'Go which serves good South-Western France food. No good if your vegetarian (which I am) as it's very meat orientated, no fish, but the atmosphere is fantastic, the staff are wonderful and the salads are good - if you do eat meat the Cassoulet is to die for, as recommended by my husband. If you eat fish, have dinner at Le Pyreneen, pricey, but delicious and again with lovely friendly staff, my husband highly recommends da foie gras. Both are great for special and romantic occassions. Both are in the hotel guide. They are very near the hotel, but very busy, so get there early. We both loved Toulouse and if we were to go again would definitely stay at Hotel Abert 1er again.

Excellent find
Booked this hotel purely on Tripadvisor feedback and it came up trumps! This small no-frills family run hotel is tucked away on a side street just around the corner from the Capitol square (and therefore just around the corner from the high priced hotels!).Its pretty much in the middle of things although a little difficult to find for the first time. We were late arriving so I asked the hotel to pre-book a table for us at a local eatery - no probs at all, the staff were without exception very helpful. Frankly, nothing whatsoever to fault, particulary bearing in mind the overall cost. Breakfast, particularly on the weekend, excellent value. Went over to see a Rugby match so we didn't see that much of the City but saw enough to whet our appetite. What a lovely place and the people were so friendly (even after out team won!).We'll be back to have a proper look around Toulouse and we'll stay at Hotel Albert 1er
