Back to Café Hon Have a sit down Hon While not the finest diner food in the land, Hon, stands out for quality ingredients, friendly service and interesting decor. Our most recent visit consisted of Hon Salad with Chicken Salad, a blue cheese burger with real blue cheese chunks, Chile, french fries and cole slaw. We were too full for dessert. All were perfectly prepared, if mundane, but the Hon salad - meaning the addition of feta cheese and bacon bits, stood out a unique dish. The best thing about the burger was the large chunks of good blue cheese. The Chile was flavorfull, though not too hot. The french fries were excellent. The decor was a collection of styles, from traditional mid 20th century posters, a collection of Fiesta are tea pots, odd toys and so forth. The most fun was the souveneer counter that had the usual trinkes - key chains, coffee mugs and glasses supplemented with Baltimore trademark kitch - giant beehive hairdo wigs in articial hair and more humorously rubber (actually a cone head bathing cap). There was also a selection of silly toys. No pink flamingoes inside, though there's a giant one attached to the building facade.Don't let this make you think it's a tourist trap, the ornamentation is there for mood, and isn't phony.Go, often. It's worth it.
