We ate in this restaurant in April 2004 and highly recommend it. We chanced upon it after having left La Pigalle in disgust at the rude service and their refusal to serve us a jug of tap water - we didn't get as far as ordering food from their very unexciting menu! Having left we thought we'd burned our boats and would have to return to Sea Point or go into the Waterfront to eat and so were amazed to find The Restaurant a few paces along the street. What a contrast - smiling, friendly staff who showed us to a table on the gallery, brought us menus, a decent wine list, and a jug of tap water! I honestly can't recall in detail what we ordered, but six months later I can still remember watching the chefs in the "theatre" kitchen bantering while cooking our food and the happy, comfortable atmosphere in the restaurant when our delicious food was served. The service was friendly and efficient and the menu interesting and eclectic. We will be in Cape Town again in a month's time, and will definitely eat there at least once during our stay. Highly recommended.
