Guided Tours at the Museum of the Prison Pawiak
2009-01-01 to 2009-12-31
It is one of the most notoriously well-known landmarks from the times of the World War II. Prison Pawiak was one place where prisoners went in but never came back. When under the possession of the Gestapo, over 37,000 from the 100,000 who were jailed as political prisoners were executed or died under unnatural circumstances. Although most of the prison was destroyed by the Germans, the museum still reminds us about the scars of war and suffering that took place more than half a century ago. The guided tours would just about take you back to a time when life was a living nightmare for those within.

This place serves as a horrific reminder of WWII atrocities committed during the Nazi occupation of 1939-1944. It was where citizens of Warsaw were brought for violent and traumatic interrogations and held in cells of up to eighteen people. From here, many were transported to concentration camps and during 1943 and 1944 executions were regularly carried out. The prison was partially destroyed in 1944 but what remained was turned into a memorial and a museum. The comprehensive exhibition gives a chilling insight into the lives of the prisoners and includes photos, letters, drawings and other personal possessions.NYC Best Hotel Deals: 50% Savings In New York!
