small things make a big difference
Overall the hotel was quite nice from outside & had some good features inside. However when we arrived at our bedroom we were very disappointed for the rooms were very basic & in general the beds were not comfortable. from a cleanliness point of view the air vents in the gym & bathroom of bedroom looked like they were not cleaned in months, making me very uncomfortable from a hygene point of view. I couldnt believe the condition of the keyboard in reception area when i was booking out receptionest could hardly see letters on keyboard with the amount of dust. my suggestion pay attention to where people spend alot of time bedroom, bathroom, reception & gym area a little bit of more detailed cleaning would help ( Yours AB Room 210)

most enjoyable
Myself, my husband and our 5 year old son spent a weekend here and it was most enjoyable. The staff were excellent and couldnt have been more helpful and pleasant. The family rooms were quite sufficient plus a tv with pleanty of channels for the kids to watch. The location was great, just outside the city but only 10 mins. walk into it. The resturaunt and bar were beautifully designed and most comfortable. The Leisure centre was great. Overall we had a wonderful weekend break and our son didnt want to come home.

Great hotel in a very nice town
We visited 6 hotels during our stay in Ireland, and this was absolutely the best. Great breakfast, great beds, and the staff was really nice. We forgot our charger for our mobile phone, and one girl at the desk, who had the same phone, let us use her charger, that's what I call service!

What a sham
We were lucky enough to get a present of a voucher for a 2 night stay in the Hotel Kilkenny. Delighted and really looking forward to a 2night break without the children. Unfortunately we found that the staff were very rude and unhelpful. We had a booking for dinner for the 2 nights - we ate the first night and decided not to eat again in the restaurant. The food choices were good - but food arrived late and cold to our table. Looked like the food had just been put under a heater all day - shrivveled up. Waitress couldn't understand our complaints and when we demanded to speak to the restaurant manager or chef - we were told that they were in a meeting.....At 9 pm in the evening. What a joke. DO NOT GO HERE for fear of going bald from pulling your hair out.

Try Elsewhere
Stayed in this hotel for a weekend and initially we were quite impressed. However the night staff were most rude and I was appalled by the manner in which we were spoken to. Having complained to the hotel I got a most unprofessional and defensive response. We visited many other hotels over the course of the weekend for food and drink and I would highly recommend any of them. They are miles ahead which is perhaps why we couldn't find anywhere else when we were booking and most other hotels were fully booked! This should have told us something.
