i love this place
there was nothing to dislike about this educational experience at the museum. It was also a spectacular place to go on a field trip.

Worth the drive!
It is nice to visit a local facility and not have to wait in lines. The facility is well kept, moderately priced and eager for those willing to learn. The hands on functions on the "upper level" were the highlight of the day. Old or young you will learn something while visiting this facility. THUMBS UP!

Always a Good Time!
Fernbank is very popular with my family, and has been for years. The hands on discovery rooms are a great destination for young children on rainy afternoons, and a great chance to meet other area parents. The main exibit, A Walk Through Time in Georgia, is popular with all of my children(3,5&6). The ancient seas gallery is always a big hit as is the giant ground sloth. While Fernbank isn't enormous it is sizable enough to spend a leisurely afternoon- plus with little kids more than two hours anywhere is pushing the limits! This is defintely a location where purchasing a membership is worthwhile. The temporary exhibits are really great, and the child and family friendly additions are always fun. There is always an activity and a take home for drop in on weekends, as well as some really fun 'family days' like Bugs Bats and Bones- at Halloween our family favorite- when the museum throws a 'party' complete with face painting, costumes and live animals! I have nothing bad to say about this place, I only hope that soon they will get more sponsors and donors to keep up with that darn aquarium!

Older Kids
Fernbank is great for older children. There are other places to take younger children. However, young kids always love the Dinosaur exibits. Weekends are the best time to visit Fernbank. Also, a great place to take a child doing a project. They get a little more hands on learning.

Fake...
The entire museum was filled with so called "artifacts" It was all recreated to be what it would look like back in the era you were looking at. There was nothing there that was a real artifact. The best part of the museum was the hands on and most of that stuff was broken... Would not recommend for the 12.50 it takes to get in.

Very good value
Great place, had children 9 and 6 with us, and they loved the 2 play/hands on areas for kids. Didn't think we'd be able to get them out of there. The staff was great explaining things to us and the kids. As a whole the building was clean and well maintained. Very easy to get around and very open. I would recomnd it to anyone with an afternoon free.

Would Love to go back!
Personally i thought that it was a great place! It's perfect for a date bc you can eat dinner, have drinks and watch a movie all in one stop. The music is great, and the food is excellent. We saw the Amazon when we went, and i want to go back to see the other movies! I def recommend this place

I was expecting much more : (
oAfter reading the many reviews I was expecting much more then what was there.I went in and joined up for a family membership upon arrival with the thinking that this place will be a great source of intertainmant and stimulation for my kids for the an entire year. After going through the entire museum (less the imax) an hour and half later I was not impressed, and asked for a refund on our family pass and paid for the daily pass instead. This is not something I see getting utilized alot in my family on a regular basis, perhaps once every 2-3 yrs.

Family Adventure
Fernbank is an excellent place to take your family. The exhibits are well designed and thought-provoking. From IMAX to old bones, to beautiful old-growth forest, there's something for the whole family
