excellent time
lived in florida for 5 years never been to the zoo...my grandson came to visit this month so we decided to see animals...The lowry park zoo was a great choice..the zoo is beautiful, the animals and cages are clean...my grandsons loved feeding the giraffes.i think the adults in my group had a better time the the kids...hi 5 LOWRY park,we will be back.....jsut one complaint that i do have, went to eat lunch at GRUB&GROG....dont do it...the server was very rude after i bought back a chocolate milk that was expired....but like i said it was a great day, even my 16 year old had a great time, and we all know how teenagers are..so if you want a nice day out i would highly recommend the LOWRY PARK ZOO..the penguins were awesome too.

Excellent day trip with little kids!
We visited this zoo with our preschool age children after reading several books on African animals and manatees. This is by far the cleanest zoo we have visited and the animals looked lively and often interacted with visitors.

Best Zoo
When I was achild my Grand parents lived in Tampa we would spend the summer there. They would take us there when Lowry Park was just that a park. Anyone remember Sheena the elephant? I have apic of me and my brother sitting on her. We moved to St Pete in 2006 my Grandon loved going there, of course we got season passes. And spent very memorable weekends there. He loved Zoo Boo the best, it was fun to go at night and to all of their special events, Now living back in the Chicago area I and my grandson miss the Zoo very much, he looks at the website all the time and wishes to go back. It is the best Zoo that I haver ever been to. I enjoyed iit more than our Zoos here in Chicago. I would go again and again. Loved it and brought a lot of memories for me.

Luv it!!
We visit St. Pete/Tampa every year and every year we go to the zoo. We love it. It's great. I love how close the animals seem to be. The drinks/food are a little on the high side, but hey, isn't that everywhere!! We will be there again this July. Keep up the good work. :)

Love this zoo
It is so family friendly there are a lot of interactive things that your family can do with the animals... and the animals all look well cared for.

Lowry Park sucks
This Zoo is a shame. They do not have enough animals to see. Example Polar Bear, Penguins, and so on.

Pay as you go zoo
This has to be the WORST zoo I have ever been too. Very disappointing as a florida resident. Pass this one up and go to the Tampa Aquarium or Central FL zoo.

Worst part of our Vacation
So we arrived at 11:30am on a Sunday on a holiday weekend. (4th of July) 3 adults, 1 3-year-old child and a senior. Cost 90 dollars to get through the door. Big signs, PLEASE DO NOT BRING IN BEVERAGES OR FOOD. It was 103 degrees. Got inside, water cost 2 dollars a bottle. Saw a few empty cages and a bird. Not an exotic bird, just a Florida white long legged bird. Then we stopped for lunch. 9 dollars for a pre-made salad with no dressing. I ordered a 9 dollar chicken sandwich from what appeared to be a depressed teenager who did not want to be working. It smelled like Alpo, so I exchanged it for the salad. Then off to see some goats. Oh and an alpaca that bites. We did get to feed the stingrays. Only 2 dollars for a shrimp and a little guppy sized fish. Next it rained, no the zoos fault. But they closed all the exhibits because of the rain. Now, this is southern tropical Florida. It rains here, a lot. My daughter had fun playing in the rain, it was the only time she had fun. I was actually happy during the rain, it was at least entertaining. After the rain we saw some sleeping monkeys and a puddle (they told us there was a hippo in the puddle, but it never came out. None of the zoo staff seemed to know if any of the exhibits were going to re-open. Very few did re-open. We were also able to feed a giraffe, only 3 bucks. 3 bucks to feed the animal for the zoo. Farmers should get in on this. COME FEED MY COWS, ONLY 5 BUCKS. I wonder how much they would have charged me to help clean out a cage or 2. So yeah, a few German Shepards, er, I mean wolves. 2 sleeping bears and some ducks and we were done. All in all, entrance fees to the zoo 90 bucks, getting to eat Alpo and feed animals, another 50 bucks. Getting to be ignored buy an inattentive zoo staff taking care of crappy exhibits...Priceless.
