Graz is undiscovered pleasure!
An old city with lots of history - great little streets to wander and drink great coffee, cold beers or champagne! Had the best schnitzel ever, coated with pumpkin seeds which is the local favorite. Try the pumpkin seed oil on salads too. Very nutty taste, a change from the same old olive oil! I brought several bottles home only to find some in a local Euro deli shop!! Look for the very unique statue of the soldiers leg sticking out of the top of one of the downtown buildings. It is said to represent the battle in which the Austrians defeated the Turks and this leg was a copy of the last Turkish leg as it ran out of Graz!! Not sure how any local Turks would feel about that!! Drove out of town about 1 hour and found many wineries close to the Hungarian border. Great places where you can sample the wine and have lunch at the same time in beautiful surroundings. Have fun, Graz is a great place to spend several days.

A Graz MUST!!!
The Schlossberg is the center of Graz. The view from the top is beautiful! 3 ways to get to the top: 1)You can take an elevator for a small fee 2) a cable car- no extra charge if you already have a bus pass 3) or you can climb the 200-300+ stairs. There is an outdoor concert venue, a traditional restaurant, a modern restaurant, and a cafe, not to mention the Uhrturm, breathtaking gardens, and winding paths.

Beautiful Panoramic view
The view from the top, at the clock tower, is a magnificent sight, all of Graz its below you. The tower was originally part of a fortress but was destroyed as part of an agreement with Napolean and the clock tower is all that is left. Its a beautiful sight and I highly recommend it as a great place to go to see all of Graz.
