Founded in 1928, the Stadtmuseum arrived at its present location in the Palais Khuenberg after going through a series of subsequent moves. In 1956, the exhibition was moved to Schloss Eggenberg (Eggenberg Castle). From 1947 to 1951, the termination of the contract threatened closure for good. Fortunately, this was not executed. In the past, the Stadtmuseum has formed part of the Styrian Landesausstellung (Regional Exhibition). Information about current programs is available from the shop.
