Sometimes reality becomes fiction. This house, in which the great German author Thomas Mann grew up in, features heavily in his classic novel Buddenbrooks. Constructed in 1758, not much of the original - described in great detail in the novel - has remained, as the building was reduced to a ruin during the Second World War. A new building was erected behind it in 1957 and now houses a museum devoted to Thomas and Heinrich Mann. A number of rooms have been reconstructed to appear as they did in the novel.2 ¢/min and up – call home from over 100 countries!http://travel.comfi.com/Best Value. Best Escape. – Escape to Tampa Bay!
