Cool, old town
It's not an amusement park, but it is really cool to see old buildings, homes, and shops. It also has lots of restaurants and gift shops.

Lived in Stockholm
Gamla Stan is beautiful, as is the city of Stockholm. The narrow passage ways, with some coming out on a 17th century courtyard. The castle (the home to the king and queen) is within walking distance. The people are mostly friendly, if asked for help. Most people speak English.

Beautiful City!!
Although it is a bit touristy, the winding cobblestone streets, many unique shops, and quaint cafes amused me for hours on end. There are many shops with local artists' work and the bakery items are fabulous!! The whole atmosphere was great!

I imagine the olden days...
I have read a book by Carl Larsson and seen his drawings etc. Falling in love with the age old charm of the people, the spectacular architecture he not only wrote about but put to paper The feeling of being in the REAL Stockholm was granted upon visiting Gamalstan (old town in swedish). From the narrow, winding, cobblestone streets you can imagine people travelling on foot or horseback once upon a time exactly where you have placed your feet! Amazing adventure! Look at every little nook and crany of everything and imagine life and what it must have been like back then. Try it! Awesome! The book I mentioned above is called "The Autobiography of Sweden's Most Beloved Artist" by Carl Larsson, printed by Penfield Press (and easy to find on Amazon or other places).

Old Town Stockholm
Gamla Stan (Swedish for Old City), is a wonderful maze of history, quaint shops, restaurants and the historic city square. Wander around and literally, get lost. Old town is small and compact. Have the time of your life, here.

Great example of a European town
Gamala Stan is everything I had imagined it to be. It was a beautiful town, lined with cobblestone roads, narrow streets, and small interesting shops all around the little island. Its examplifiles what I read about Europe in the books and the pictures.

Quaint Old Town
Beautiful, charming...well worth the stroll down throughout the cobblestone streets. Probably more fun in the warm weather. We were quite cold. But the atmosphere made it worth the chill.

Gamala Stan - Interesting place
I enjoy walking around Gamal Stan (translates to Old Town) I like the pretty old swedish buildings and there are still many shops and restaurants owned by the swedish themselves. (The further you walk into town, the less attractive the place is, and the shops become tacky, overpriced souveneer stores owned by foreigners.
