Found between Avenues 3 and 4 and streets 22 and 23, this is a large, relaxing space surrounded by some of the most outstanding buildings in the city. Criss-crossed by two main footpaths, the plaza has stone seats down the sides of the gardens and beneath the large trees, which invite you to rest beneath their verdant canopies. From 1840 to 1858 there was a fountain here that provided water to the whole city. The centrally located statue of revolutionary leader Simon Bolivar astride a horse was erected in 1930.
