Back to Palace Hotel I would like to go back I loved the history and Interior of the Victorian Building. My room was a good size with high ceilings. But I had a room with Slits for windows which made the room a little dark in the morning. However Manchesters night life and shopping more than made up for this. Hotel is in a good location.
Reviewed by: DAVID from on May 07 2009 Think twice !! Location, price and service - yes. Rest of it - not !! In room holes in walls, horror like beds, torn at base of it, bad matresses, discomfort to maximum, cracked tile in bathroom, dark and sad like inside loby/bar/room. Price was good at $67p/n. but stay away if can.
Reviewed by: SashaK from on Apr 17 2009 I now look forward to returning to Manchester. If I ever have the opportunity to return to Manchester, staying at the Palace Hotel will be high on my priority list. I arrived at the hotel 3 hours before check-in time and was given probably the most friendly welcome I have ever received by an obviously well trained staff, that caters to foreign visitors. Not only was my room ready, but larger, and more well equipped than the other rooms that I have come to expect on my trips to the UK. The bellman took me up to my room showed me the amenities of what appeared to be a relatively newly remodeled room and requested if I needed a wake up call for dinner.
Reviewed by: WILLIAM from on Feb 08 2009 One disaster after another! Original booking was lost when we rang to confirm a few days before our arrival - our room wasnt ready when we arrived at 4 in the morning after a delayed flight - had to go down several long corridors before we reached the room - linen on one of the beds wasnt clean - majority of staff were rude and not very helpful - went for the set pre theatre dinner menu but all the meals were itemised when we got the bill and worked out much more expensive than the set meal we had ordered - the area where the hotel is isnt great either

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 14 2008 No heating or hot water? So what? Heating broken - very cold night, no warm water at all in the taps nor in the shower, basin plug jammed closed. Told reception again on checking out early, and receptionist just nodded and handed me the bill. In response to my "You don't expect me to pay for that," he wasn't authorised to give more than a tiny discount, so I paid on the promise that the manager would call my mobile. Three weeks later and I'm about to call, as s/he never has.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 18 2007 The Worst Hotel Experience of My Life I flew all night and then had to wait over 30 minutes for my room. The room was so difficult to find, it's like a maze to get through that dreary place. The room was OK, not too dirty.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 05 2007 Revolting I have never been to such a revolting hole in my entire life, this ruined the end of my 7 week tour of the UK. I found a fried egg under my pillow yes! A fried egg. The toilets contained remnants of human faeces, and the bed sheets were stained beyond the limits of even the strongest of stomachs. Never again.
Reviewed by: Butch from on Jan 24 2007 The Palace Manchester never again Arrived to find they had no copy of my booking through Expotel and treat me like it was my fault. Was allocated room 152 which overlooked the main street. Ceilings extremely high and dark wood panelling around room which made if look very dingy and dirty. Net curtains in both bedroom and bathroom were grey with dirt and window did not shut properly in bathroom.Only there for 1 night on business so decided not to complain, went to bed about 11.00 was aware it was noisy outside due to being opposite a pub but expected this to subside but it only got worse. Apparently there was a night club in the area and consequently the noise went on until 4 in the morning. The only thing I could liken it to was being in the centre of Ayia Napa on a Saturday night(but trying to sleep). Gangs of people were marauding around the streets screaming and shouting and then of course there were the trains which carried freight, thought they were running through my bedroom at one point. Overall I was very disappointed with this hotel and and think they should warn people in advance about the noise. Unfortunately I booked this at the last minute I only wish I had read all the bad reports first.
