Not What It Used To Be
My wife and I have been to Barton Creek yearly for the last four years. But we won't be going back again. Since the new owners have taken over prices have gone up and overall quality and amenities have gone down. Nearly all of the familiar faces of the staff that treated us so well are gone (we were told most of them quit because of how they were being treated by the new owners). The inexperience of the new staff shows, especially in the restaurants. By the way food prices were raised while portion sizes were decreased. If they bring back the old Barton Creek we'll gladly comeback again.

Very short staffed
I was shocked at the condition of this location, as well as the lack of customer service. It was not what one would expect from a 4-star resort.

Terrible service, avoid for your event
I had my wedding reception at Barton Creek and the service I received was beyond awful. Barton Creek's event coordinators were unprofessional and inexperienced and my husband and I were often given misinformation about important details regarding our event. Their Director of Catering was condescending and unhelpful. She scoffed at our ideas and was more focused on her own personal life than on our wedding. Her assistant was mistake-prone and misinformed us many times of prices, availability, etc. The catering department served us a delicious meal at our tasting but the actual dinner at our reception was tasteless and the portions were tiny. Barton Creek threw in hidden costs at every opportunity, including charging us for items that we were originally told would be "included"...the list of dissapointments from Barton Creek is very long. Barton Creek made what was supposed to be a fun experience very stressful and trying. I sincerely regret having my event at Barton Creek and learned from my wedding coordinator that establishments such as The Four Seasons and The Driskill do not have such problems. I highly recommend going with another vendor for your wedding or special event.

If your not an uptight stiff
You'll love this place. Its an amazing retreat just a few miles from downtown if you know your away around Austin. The veiws are beutiful and rooms were excellent! The staff is friendly and the food amazing! If I had the money I'd move to Austin and become a member so that I might enjoy the quality of life everyday. There were alot of kids at the pool and it only made enjoy the memories of my own children at there age. You don't feel bombarded by anyone, yet they make sure your taken care of. Anyone who doesn't enjoy this scene obviously can't appreciate the history or beuty of Austin this resort reflects. In fact Jessica Simpson spent her honeymoon at the same resort. Not that this had any reason for us wanting to stay there, you just don't know who you will run into. If you like golf, you'll love all of three courses at Barton creek. The bars are alot of fun as well.

so far away from everything
The Services was okay, they lost my luggage upon arrival and then found it two hours later on the curb. The resort is located very far away from downtown Austin and took forever to get there from the airport and then if you wanted to go in to downtown Austin, that took almost an hour.

Not worth the money
Just spent Saturday and Sunday at Barton Creek Resort, dined at the Hill Country Diner, not very impressed witht he lamb. The room colors were Blah! For $340/night you would think they would be well decorated, not so. I did not get any sleep as people were slamming their doors until 4:30am. The layout of the resort rooms is such that 6 doors are in a corridor, whenever one is used we all hear it clearly. The vanity area is void...no room whatsoever for a women to do makeup or hair. The shower was awful. The water pressure was so hard, it hurt my skin. At the Spa....the facial was ok, a little on the rough side, and rushed. I did not like the fact that gratutity was included, because I would have tipped less than 20-15% to make a point.
