Casa Martia, a jewel of the coast, don't miss it!
I couldn't possibly say enough good praise about Casa Martia and its staff. I read the posted review about thefts and I don't honestly see how that could be possible. We've never encountered more honest, reliable people than the staff that manages the house.

Puerto Morelos is great
Loved the area. The people in town were fantastic and treated us like kings. We stayed at a private villa ( Casa Martia ) about 3 miles outside Puerto Morelos. We were stolen from repeatedly at Casa Martia, starting the second day of our trip. A video camera, cash on several occasions, an i-pod and watch. The house was always locked up tight, only the caretaker and cleaning crew had access. The owners seemed to try and blame us. Stay away from Casa Martia. Will have to find a new place to stay, loved the area.

The reef is gorgeous
The village is very quaint with a variety of charming restaurants and small shops. Some discounts for cash. There are some nice little open air restaurants/bars on the beach and for some reason the Dos Equis beer tasted the best. For about $2/bottle.

Magic environment
I've been living in Puerto for a year, and I can tell you that the atmosphere there is magic in terms of energy. The sea specially in this area have healing characteristics that you for sure feel but never see. The variety of birds, the manglar ( the jungle) and the friendly peolple that live there make it a living experience more than a tourist town.

Loved Puerto Morelos
We stayed at Hotel El Cid Marina for our anniversary and loved it. The food was awesome. You should plan on relaxing, swimming, snorkeling and eating. We did a day excursion to Xel-Ha and Tulum. To be honest I would do only one in a day as we could not fully enjoy both in one day.

Nice little town
If your sick of the high pressure sales, relentless salesman, and and all around horrible bargaining at the shops in Cancun, try Puerto Morelos. It's a nice sleepy little town with quit a few shops. The town's character reflects in the shopping there. Laid back, no pressure. They will bargain but don't give you dirty looks and mutter obscene spanish if you decide not to buy like they do at Coral Negro (sp?)!!!

I love Morelos for soo many reasons! I just can't explain how amazing it was. Was the food the best or perhaps the beautiful scenery? I'll never figure that one out.
