Back to Fabulous Palm Springs Follies They are Fabulous!!! This was our first time at the follies, after hearing about it about three years ago from a friend. We somehow managed to miss them until this year when it was mentioned as a trip a group in Riverside was taking. I looked online and read about this years theme and decided this would be the year we would be there. The show is very entertaining and the dancers are great role models for all of us heading into our golden years. I wish I had half the energy these people. I did comment to my husband that not only were they good entertainers, they were ALL quite good looking. The show is impressive and Mr. Riff made us laugh the whole time he was on stage during the breaks. Everyone is just so fantastic!! I hope to attend next year again. The salute to our military and the patriotic part of the show brings tears to my eyes. We highly recommend the Follies to anyone who wants to spend an afternoon or evening being entertained by true show people. And the lovely Susan Anton was also a burst of energy, seems so down to earth and entertained us with her Christmas show. It was so nice to stroll down the street in Palm Springs and eat at the sidewalk restaurants. We had breakfast at Pinocchio's, and the food was great. Everyone is so friendly and it is such a pleasant little town, it's a great day or weekend adventure. There's still time to go this year, but if for some reason you miss it, put it on your calendar for next year - you won't be disappointed, unless you are looking for the type of entertainment where people don't dance, they just hop around, don't sing but the technology makes it easy for them to lip sync and they have no idea what it means to entertain. May the Follies be ongoing forever and may they continue to inspire all of us. Thank you for such a great time!!!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 07 2009 I will have to wait until next year! We get to Palm Springs at least once a year to visit friends and play golf. The best part is being able to find great entertainment at the Palm Springs Follies. Sometimes we don't get there because the show that we want is sold out, so that is sad for us, but not the Follies. It is a great venue, lots of fun, superb dancing and an emcee that won't quit. He has done a wonderful job of putting together marvelous memories of the past and I thank him for that. Vaudeville may have been like this, but I am too young to know, I am only 76. The cast was absolutely amazing and I aspire to be in as good shape as they are when I reach their age. However, it may be too late for me. I don't look good in a skirt and my hair is too short.
Reviewed by: Larry from on Dec 07 2009 Great entertainment overall, but tiresome jokes The impact of the production, as a whole, is powerful. It is our second visit, and no one should visit Palm Springs without taking in the Follies. That said, I find the darksided ethnic jokes to be boring and distastefull. The world is full of funny things, and humor should leave one with a deeper appreciation of irony and a light hearted feeling. Good satire can provoke deep reflection as well as a feeling of coping with irony. Bad satire reinforces bad feelings. In my opinion, that's what the negative humor did.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 29 2009 Warmed-Over Fare Our third time this year and we were deeply disappointed in the lack of freshness, creativity, number of acts, and a feeling of everybody being "tired" of doing this. To be honest, cannot recommend this show until someone steps in and makes it crisp, truly funny, and creative again. Wish we could have been more delighted--we weren't!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 22 2009 No Disappoint Here !! After having been to Palm Springs many times, but never while the Follies was 'in season', I finally had the opportunity to arrive at the Plaza Theatre and enjoy the current show, Let The Good Times Roll. Good show, Susan Anton was great but the best part was inviting us in to the lives of the entertainers by introducing them one by one and letting them speak to us.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 22 2009 Awesome, As Always!!!! We have just returned to Illinois from our yearly stay in Palm Desert. This has been our fifth visit to the Follies. I cannot imagine being out there and not seeing the newest review. It is always a pleasure. My husband thought the ventriloquist was super. I am the same age as Susan Anton but somehow I don't look like her :-) We thoroughly enjoy every show and all the fabulous music and costumes. Please keep up the great work!!! Sincerely, Two of Riff's People :-)
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 21 2009 One of the Best Shows Yet I've been coming to this show every year for the last 16 or 17 years. Sometimes twice a year. I have never been disappointed and have bragged about it to friends and family and they have bought tickets. You never cease to completely entertain. This year's show was wonderful. Susan Anton was a real delight. What an entertainer!! And the ventriloquist was amazing. What a cute idea to use a person from the audience to demonstrate how easy it is. It was VERY funny. Your salute to the military always puts tears in my eyes. You are a real Patriot. Thanks for all the laughs and the beautiful costumes and the most impressive talented seniors I'm sure anywhere. They all look like they are having so much fun.

Reviewed by: Sherrie from on Nov 16 2009 What a surprise!! Last week was my second visit to the Follies. The first time (Jan. 2009) was with a group from a club I belong to. At that time I had no idea whatsoever who or what I was going to see. When I got to the theater, I did realize that the show must consist of older performers - I gleaned that from posters around, etc. I thought perhaps this was going to be a show for older folks (even though I'm 67, I don't feel or think REAL old) & I wasn't too excited. Once the show started, however, I changed my thinking!! First of all, Rif Markowitz was very funny. When the dancers started, I thought that they couldn't be very old with the way they were moving around. :) When the performer introductions started I was AMAZED at the ages of some of the people. To make a long story short, the Follies performers are an inspiration to anyone watching. The show itself if very entertaining and well done.
