Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 08 2009 So Charming! The hotel was so charming and such a pleasant change from the usual hotel. You could really feel the history within the walls. Wonderful location and so much to do and see. Can't wait to go back. The Anthony Hopkins room was small, but met all of our needs.
Reviewed by: E J from on Aug 05 2009 Racially charged dangerous atmosphere The bar is home to a local group of neo nazi's that scream to each other on the street when the bar lets out. Worse the management uses them as security and pays them with beer. When i complained about the noise, two drunk skinheads knocked at my door and it was very scary and I wont be back.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 26 2008 the real thing, like going back in time If you are expecting a Ramada Inn or the like forget about the Monte Vista. I stayed there fifteen years ago - loved it then and loved it again this time.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 07 2008 Such a good time. I stayed for the second time at the Monte Vista last month. We arrived late (I emailed that we would) and they said there was a problem with my credit card and they were trying to book the room because they thought we weren't coming. He was a bit grumpy, but I think that was because he had to deal with a bunch of drunk people overflowing from the bar. The credit card deal was quickly fixed as the owner was in the lobby and overheard the conversation. My credit card worked fine at the desk when he tried it and they gave us our room. The parking is hard to find as it isn't clearly marked and the entrance is on a one way street. I would recommend getting specific directions from the staff prior to the visit.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 14 2008 Gave away our room My girlfriend and I came up to Flagstaff for homecoming. We stayed at the Monte V for two nights. The original reservation was set for two nights at $80. We received 1 night at $110. We left the morning after the first night and didn't return till that evening to find our room had been given to someone else and our stuff had been taken out of our room. The manager was "down the street" and came back to tell us all rooms were full. We eventually got a room for the night which was an upgrade for the same price but the lounge and train made sleeping difficult.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 06 2007 All Show, Don't Go To start there is only 22 parking spaces for 55 rooms. Miss out and your in the street. I reserved a specific room, was told no problem, when I arrived I wasn't what I was promissed. The hotel DOESN'T LOOK like it does on the website. Don't be fooled. Trains ran all day and all night, cocktail lounge open till 2am. Both equal no sleep. No locks on my windows, tackey decor, chipped paint. Over all it needs help. I would have left but I would have had to pay for it anyway. Trust me, I thought it looked cool on line too. Forget it. If you want to look at it just go there and look around or have a drink in the lounge. It seems like they pay more attention to selling drinks than running a hotel. I'm very disappointed.
