Quality but lacking atmosphere
The Kempinski Moscow is an interesting building and well-renovated, rooms are clean, well-appointed with quality fittings expected of this class of hotel. Its lobbey and entrance area however leave a lot to be desired for a top class and expensive hotel. Staff are courteous and very helpful. The rooms large and well-appointed with some taste but still protrude an atmosphere that does not reflect the historic nature of this hotel. The location means some rooms look over the river and over at red Square but only on one side of the hotel...in front is an ugly bridge and on two sides nothing but other buildings. There are no restaurants or attractions nearby and it is a 15 minute walk to Red Square. Indoor pool and spa but pool (free) is too shallow for serious swimmers.

A great hotel in a great city.
There's nothing not to like about the Baltschug. Even in the dead of winter, when the Russian weather can be brutal, the Baltschug is an oasis of comfort and warmth. The restaurant serves up some of the finest food in Moscow and their Sunday brunch is easily one of the best bargains you'll find anywhere. When they say its Moscows finest brunch, there can be no doubt. Great location(only five minute walk into Red Square)and a nice view of the Moscow River. I highly reccomend this hotel.
