This place is named after the famous turn-of-the-century Russian journalist and writer Vladimir Giliarovsky. In the first four years of its existence the cuisine slowly mutated from Russian to American, and it is now pretty much a full-fledged steak restaurant, with a couple of meat-free dishes thrown in for good measure. The dark, subterranean setting, in a building dating from 1700, is perfect for consuming large quantities of red meat and wine.
