Back to Marriott Kauai Resort & Beach Club Very disappointed We were very disappointed in our stay at the Marriott, it was not worth the money. It took forever to get into a room. And then we were not given the room with a view we were promised. The construction sounds were very annoying. The food on property was horrible. The staff was rude. Don't stay here, you will regret the $ you pre-paid to stay at this Marriott. I am a rewards member. And the way this trip went I am thinking of switching to another major hotel chain.
Reviewed by: ACTOR from on Oct 15 2009 island perfection The location is perfect and close to stores, fast food places and tours. Concierge service was excellent. Just about anywhere you eat in the hotel or nearby has ocean views. Very relaxing atmosphere for couples or families. We are looking forward to going back with the rest of the family.

Reviewed by: golfgrll from on Sep 26 2008 to many problems at the Kauai Marriott We loved the pool at the Marriott and that it has a Duke's next door, whose staff couldn't be friendlier. It also has a convenient location if you are okay with being near the airport. What we don't like is that they seem to continually have problems which includes the parking lot that had a sink hole and took years to fix, the flooding that affected the first floor rooms near the pool, which may be what contributes to the smell and the planned power outages that they know about and don't notify their guests of prior to arrival. Instead they slip a note under your door that the power will be out for 3 nights for approximately 4 hours each night (1/2 the time you are in the room). This of course means no air conditioning or lighting, although they do have emergency lights. The service side by management is sorely lacking and our perception is that they aren't really interested in repeat business. Kauai is a beautiful island but the Marriott is no longer our choice for a hotel. We actually switched hotels and went to the Hyatt and it was beautiful.
Reviewed by: tropictravelers from on Aug 28 2008 Go every other year and always enjoy it. We go to Kauai every 2 years and stay at the Marriott Kauai Beach Club and love it. The pool is great, the beach and ocean views are great, and the grounds are great. The golf course next door, the Kauai Lagoons, has beautiful views of the ocean and great service.
Reviewed by: Todd from on Aug 05 2008 Underwhelmed... We chose the Marriot because of friends' recommendations and the fact that we splurged on a hotel in Maui. For what the Marriot costs, it was not a nice hotel. The main lobby and common areas are a bit gaudy and over the top--HUGE pillars & planters & a coi pond. The rooms were outdated and smelled musty. We paid over $300/night and were very disappointed. I wouldn't recommend the Marriot to fellow honeymooners.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 27 2008 Great location! The beach area is beautiful. It is a bay surrounded by high cliffs with nice gentle surf and no rocks. Great for playing, swimming, surfing. The grounds are nice and the rooms are as well. I had a partial ocean view room that overlooked both the pool and bay.
Reviewed by: Michael from on Jun 26 2008 overall happy We enjoyed staying at the resort, in fact we didn’t realize how much until we was leaving on Tuesday night. I was a little sarcastic at first because it reminded me of when I lived on a small college campus, with the 5 towers like dormitories. We stayed in a garden view room, ground level looking out at a mound. At first I didn’t like it, and felt they were placing me in the room with expectations of me paying for an upgrade. We actually started liking the privacy of the room rather quickly. We could leave the curtain open getting natural light and not worry about anybody looking in. The room was stuffy, but when I asked for a fan it was provided within the hour. My other problem was the bathroom had no exhaust fan.
