Rough area of town
The inns lacked soul and I couldnt sleep with the highway noise right outside our window. The part of Providence Smith Hill is veryscary especially at night time. We drove into to the downtown area becasue we felt unsafe walking around the area.

Historic Charm
We stopped in Providence overnight on the way to Cape Cod and the Visitors center recommended we stay at the State House Inn. I was able to walk down to Waterfire and to the Providence Mall. The breakfast was great; I especially liked all the flavored coffee choices. Our room was beautifully decorated, but not over done. We go to the Cape every summer and plan on visiting Providence every year, too.

Beyond expectations
While visiting Brown University with our son, we stayed at both of the State House Inn properties. My wife liked the big blue victorian best and my son and I preferred the more stately Christopher Dodge House. We had breakfast at the Dodge house both mornings and found the breakfast a great combination of healthy choices and special treats. The inn staff were very friendly and helpful. If my son does attend Brown, we will be regulars!

Great getaway Inn
Great B&B, beautiful building and nicely decorated rooms. We tried the Inns Romantic Getaway Package- it was a good value (if you are going to stay in Providence two or more nights and plan on eating out in a nice place at least once I recommend the package, even if your not looking for romance) We walked to the Providence Mall and down to the RISD museum. At night we drove downtown to the restaurant. The staff was very friendly, but also very busy.

Location stinks!
Its location. I have never stayed in an inn right on the interstate of rt 95 before , wow, how could anyone stand this? The noise was too much. It was clean and the people were nice but the location was absolutely ridiculous.

Seedy area called Smith Hill
The inn was in a very seedy area of town and the noise from the highway was really bad. We had to walk up four flights of stairs to get to our room. We have never stayed at an inn overlooking the highway before and never will again. We could not see the highway from the nice picture that the inn had on their website. Unfortunately they don't show the other side. Highway rt 95. Yuck.

Nice Inn
Very nice inn. Very clean and comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room did overlook 95 expressway and there was some noise from the traffic but did not find it particularly bothersome. After making reservations read some reviews indicating neighborhood was dangerous and I was concerned. However, I found the neighborhood to be fine. Easy walk to Amtrak station and Providence Place Mall. We were there to visit Brown which was about a 20 minute walk. Breakfast was at the sister inn which was just steps away. Overall we has a pleasant stay.

Nice B&B
Nice place. Clean, good service and near the mall. Only downfall was the neighborhood was some what run down. This wasnt much of a problem though. Perhaps the future will prove better fot that area.
