Top Place I have been bringing groups of travellers to Bali for the last 25 years. I always make sure that the group goes at least once to Murni's Warung and her shop. Both are the best of their kind in Bali. It is alweays a hit as the food is so good, the setting superb (I think it's the best in Ubud) and the staff are simply lovely. On their leisure days they tend to go back on their own. They always love meeting Murni who is usually there when she is not travelling the world herself. Highly recommended. Fabulous and Romantic As you enter you just marvel at the art treasures that decorate every nook and cranny, some of which are for sale in Murni'sshops We sat on the lowest level of the restaurant, so that we would be near the river. The lighting is romantic. I’ve eaten saté all over Asia but here was Balinese saté. Balinese saté is pounded chicken, pork or fish, usually tuna, mixed with spices and coconut, moulded on to a coconut palm or lemongrass stick. The sticks are grilled over red glowing charcoal and then served with a spicy sambel olek. My girlfiend ordered a chilled Gazpacho soup. She enjoyed that very much. . My girlfiend had Bombay Lamb Curry. Tender Australian lamb, simmered in Indian spices, accompanied by a crispy pappadum, sweet home-made mango chutney, yoghurt raita, made on the premises from a 30 year old culture, and cashew nut saffron rice. I had Grilled Tuna Steak with sambel matah: a grilled boneless tuna steak topped with a very Balinese sambel, a tossed salad on the side, served with steamed white rice. We had a bottle of Australian Madfish Premium Red, , which went down perfectly. Cashew nut pie and coconut ice-cream for me. Murni joined us for that and explained that she created the recipe for the pie years ago. My girlfiend had Pisang Goreng, Balinese Banana Fritters, with Vincent’s Creamy Ginger Sauce. Liqueurs in the Lounge Bar completed the evening. A great find Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes
Why? / Why Not? This is the most romantic restaurant in Asia. Great friendly service. Great value and great food. What more can you ask for?

Best restaurant in Bali I have just spent a couple of months in Bali, staying in Ubud, and ate in most of the restaurants in Ubud. Murni's Warung was extraordinarily good. The standard of the food was consistently outstanding and the restaurant's setting was the best in Ubud, right over a ravine. It has been going since 1974, so they've got it just right. We usually started in the Lounge Bar and then had a meal of Western or real Balinese dishes. Excellent, friendly service and very reasonable prices. There are daily specials, which are incredible, especially a local chicken dish called Tuti's Tutu Ayam. An authentic Balinese dish not sold anywhere else. The owner, Murni, presides over her creation and is extremely friendly and interesting. She also has a great shop on the premises and accommodation. If you want to have a look and learn about Bali, her web site is one of the leading on line resource centres: www.murnis.com This place is an absolute must.

food ok but be careful the atmosphere and the food of the place was ok when I visited it with on 23rd June with my partner. We order the smoked duck and it was nice other then being a little too greasy. But the aftershock of the meal was terrible when the waitress don't charge one of the dessert we ordered to the bill and demand that we pay separately for the cake. And she dare to tell us to pay her 40,000 for a 16,000 cake saying the rest is meant as tips. Food good but SERVICE DEFINITELY SUCKS!!! Will not visit the place again.. . as there are definitely better place to enjoy a meal in Ubud Go This is a wonderful restaurant and an amazing shop attached. Murni is a legend in the Far East and people come from all over to meet her and dine in her fabulous restaurant.

You do not want to sit at the street level where the Main Road noise/fumes are. Spectacular fauna in the river gorge. Walking distance from central Ubud, We had the smoked duck, I would return just for that.
