atmosphere and food First class dining at restaurant opposite japanese shipwreck (Baliku or The Pavilion). Excellent ala-carte international food which you would not expect to find in Bali let alone the countryside. Excellent beachside accomodation (BOTH LUXURY AND BUDGET STYLE)also available nearby for very reasonalbe tariffs. Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes
Why? / Why Not? A great get away from it all holiday in excellent surroundings
so beautiful It was beautiful and relatively untouched. We stayed in the Jukung Bali Bungalows which were lovely with an incredibly attentive staff. We had the beach to ourselves. All for less than $20 a night!
Reviewed by: LauraG from on Jan 23 2008 Phenomenal Diving The coral was so alive and beautiful. For the best diving stay away from where the fisherman beach their boats, that is where the coral is dead. But you only have to travel a couple of meters to find the most vivid colors. I was amazed out how close the coral was to the shore when we were diving just east of Amed. The quiet lifestyle of the locals made this the best place to spend a week. Well worth the 2-3 hour drive from the airport to get away from all the tourist.

Friendly locals, without any of the hastles of Kuta or some of the other areas of Bali. Some brilliant snorkelling, didn't dive myself but am told the diving is first class too. For a relaxing, easy place to stay can recommend Amed. Stayed at a new hotel Anda Amed Resort, wonderful. Great food, spectacular views and friendly helpful staff. Definitly a place to visit in Bali
