Stay Away I took a party of 8 to Moon River Brewing for a birthday celebration. While we were waiting to be seated, I tried to get the attention of a waitress to find out the location of the rest rooms. She ignored me and made a face as if I was bothering her. I immediately informed Chris, the manager of her poor conduct. When we placed our dinner orders, we were informed that they were out of onion rings and sirloin steaks. At this point, we canceled the entire order and left. I spoke to Chris again to let him know our disappointment. He told me that they ran out of many of the menu items because they were busy Friday and Saturday nights. This is poor food inventory management! WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT, AND WE WILL INFORM OTHERS TO STAY AWAY! Would you recommend this to a friend? No
Why? / Why Not? AWEFUL EXPERIENCE BY ALL 8 PEOPLE IN MY PARTY!
AVOID THIS PLACE The place was almost empty during a peak time on the weekend. The hostess wasn't exactly friendly, and the waiter had even less personality. The entire staff acted more irritated than anything that they had to deal with customers. The beer brewed on site was described on the menu, yet left off the little detail that it was 8 oz in a wine glass for $9. The food was good, although the entrees were overpriced. Canned green beans were a side item; need I say more? Also, almost every hotel in the city had cards offering $3 off with the purchase of 2 entrees. We were rudely informed that they were "not accepting coupons today". No explanation, no reason, nothing. There were no exclusions printed on the coupon, so I'm not sure why they just randomly choose days not to accept them. I would definitely not recommend this place. There are many other places to eat in Savannah with much better food, very friendly wait staff, and for the same or less money.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 05 2009 Counting the days till we return The atmosphere is wonderful and the location is top-notch. Other reviewers called it "FILFTHY" and an eye-"soar". It is most assuredly not. These people would probably complain that their ice is too cold. Go to Savannah, check it out, love it. We did. Can't wait to get back.
Reviewed by: Mandy from on Feb 27 2009 Love this place... We go to Moon River almost everytime we go to Savannah. The food is always good and so is the service. It's not an eye sore (or "soar" as some like to say). It's in a charming historic building right on Bay Street, so after a nice lunch, we always hit River Street for shopping. I would definitely recommend it. The food has a great value and it's always yummy. Try the southern wrap. It's heavenly. Moon River was also featured on the Sci-Fi Channel's series, Ghosthunters. Very interesting history of the building.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 28 2009 Vacation Stop I have been to Savannah several times but never eaten at Moon River. It was awful, the waiter must had a bad night and did not have any personality. We asked about the beer selection and he told us that there was a menu right in front of us and to use the menu. It was little late when we came in at 9 pm but they were already preparing to close and moving tables around. The food was not good, the stuffed crab chicken was over cooked and dry and my baked potato was under cooked. This restaurant is an eye soar in Savannah and needs better management.
Reviewed by: Jack S. from on Jul 19 2008 Great Beer Good Food I have been here a few times. It is a great old building in the heart of historic Savannah. As the name would suggest the beer is the main attraction. All of them are great, but Liked the IPA best. The food is standard bar fare. Some items are great. Some are good. The service has always been top notch.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 21 2007 DISGUSTING Our experience dining at Moon River was disgusting. Our food was not tasty (veggie burger, onion rings, crab melt) and took a long time to prepare, particularly for a slow Sunday night. Had I visited the ladies room prior to ordering, we would have not eaten at all. The bathroom was FILFTHY. There was toilet paper in only one of three stalls which was littered with used feminine hygiene products. Two hours after dinner, both of us got sick with severe intestinal symptoms and remained sick for 2 days, ruining our weekend vacation. I CONTACTED MANAGEMENT TWICE OVER THE NEXT 2 WEEKS AND NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY. This was inexcusable.
