Back to Forsyth Park Inn Not what it used to be I stayed at this inn about 5 years ago with my husband and we loved it. I would not stay here again though. It has definitely gone down hill maybe because the management is no longer on site. Because my husband and I loved our previous stay, I highly recommended to my friends that we stay there on our recent trip to Savannah. Nothing was the same. The service, the accommodations and the food had all gone down hill. Our room had a toilet that needed to be flushed 3 times. The switch for the air conditioner sparked when turned up or down, tiles were missing from the bathroom floor, and there was only one electrical outlet in the bathroom and no usable outlets in the bedroom. These inferior accommodations could have been overlooked if the staff was friendly and accommodating. When we told them about the sparking air conditioning switch in our room, they denied that there was any safety issue. They never fixed the toilet during our three days there. The breakfasts were meager and very ordinary. They scheduled breakfast in half-hour increments and actually became very upset when one of my friends was 3 minutes later than our scheduled seating time. We had to eat breakfast in less than 30 minutes in order to make room for the next seating. One bottle of red wine and one bottle of white wine were put out each afternoon and both bottles were already opened and half gone when put out. The hors d'oeuvres turned out to be salsa and chips and small pieces of bread with melted cheese. Wine and hors d’oeuvres were served in their enchanted garden five years ago but are now served in their living room apparently to save time. The desserts that were put out before bedtime turned out to be small store bought cream puffs one night and cookies the next night. The cookies, however, were all gone when we returned to the inn at 10 p.m. even though we were told desserts would be available throughout the night. The worst part of our stay was the additional $50. they tacked on each day for the third person. They never mentioned the additional $50. per day when we made the reservation for 3 people. When we disputed the additional charge they tried to tell us we never booked the room for three people. When we convinced them that we did, they said they sometimes don’t tell people because the third person sometimes doesn’t show. They would not budge on the rate and had already charged our credit card. The room was definitely not worth $384. per night and we intend to dispute the charge with our credit card company. They definitely don't care to make their guests feel welcomed and obviously have cut corners to try to offer as little as possible in the way of amenities. I would not stay here again.
Reviewed by: alli from on May 01 2009 This is the Inn you want We stayed 5 days in the Cottage at the Inn. Everything was spectacular, the food, the rooms, the owner, the staff. They went out of their way to make sure that our stay was perfect. The breakfasts in the parlor or on the porch were incredible. We would walk around all day then come back for wine and appetizers while sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch looking across at beautiful Forsythe Park. I wished it never had to end.

Reviewed by: Chris from on Aug 09 2007 Would definitely return I'm not sure what the negative reviews are about as I didnt experience any of what they did. Very courteous staff, the maids always did a nice job with the room, and breakfast was really good. Wine in the evening was also nice. The room I stayed in faced away from any street (on their website it describes if the room faces the park or not) so it was perfectly quiet.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 29 2006 Enchanting Inn!! My husband and I stayed in this very enchanting place in beautiful Savannah. This has been another of our many stays in this beautiful Inn which keeps bringing us back for the past 7 years. The Inn is indeed a safe respite for people who want to relax and enjoy quiet times in lovely surroundings. After a restful night Lori, the Innkeeper prepared a hearty breakfast to allow us to enjoy the delights of Savannah.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 12 2006 Who's In charge?? Stayed here on a business trip in June. Housekeepers were so unprofessional, left the vacuum cleaner in the hall the entire stay. The door to the linen closed open at all times exposing all the Inn's junk. Did not clean my room for two days, including clean towels! Loud conversations about someone's daughter in jail for murder and who had recently been stabbed. Terrible! The head housekeeper needs to be fired as she seemed to be the only person in charge and the owner was out of town. She obviously is not competent to be in a role of authority. The other staff were all very nice and tried to be helpful. Breakfast was very good. Could be very nice with someone in charge!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 21 2006 we will not return. Below average room and service for the price. Very disappointed. Our room was in the basement! Near the kitchen, and busy road. Window was broken. Damp, dark, sink did not drain. Shower handle broke off. Toilet seat was loose. Floor mats were wet. Cat on the premises kept scratching at our door. Etc.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 12 2006 What a shame! This establishment could be very nice but it needs attention to detail. Missing innkeeper, attitude with housekeepers, poorly trained front desk and no one seems to know what is expected of them. The rooms are large but need decorating and the bathrooms all need re-doing. We stayed in a small room but had a chance to see large ones. They were all the same, just okey, nothing special. The prices are not cheap for the overall experience. Besides, the inn is noisy being right on a busy street.

The ambiance was fabulous and the rooms and service were impeccable. I woke up each morning to the smell of fresh coffee,a variety of jucies and the breakfast menu's what can I say. Absolutely Fabulous!! And after a hard day of work, enjoying complimentary wines and hordorves made the day end with pleasure.

The house was beautiful both inside and out (situated on Forsyth Park which is convenient to the heart of the historical district),the people were friendly and genuine, the bedroom had two double beds, a fireplace, and a large, luxurious bathroom, the sitting room was well equipped with a wonderful brandy night-cap to be enjoyed inside or out on the veranda! My compliments to our hosts!
