Weekend Getaway
We got away without the kids. Hotel was very nice overall- clean, staff was helpful, conveniently located on Bay street, walking distance from everywhere. Needed a key card to get in and out of elevator (somewhat of a pain, but ok). Only real complaint was terrible wi-fi service, otherwise would recommend.

great historic inn
The inn is right on the water with a great view. This is not your typical "hotel" so if that's what you are expecting then book at the holiday inn. This is a historic inn with a lot of charm and southern flair. We enjoyed our weekend and will be going back.

Never stay here!
My experience at this hotel was one of the worst I've ever had. While my boyfriend and I were out sight seeing, the hotel maid service came to our room to tidy up. Upon our return my boyfriend noticed his suitcase has been gone through and his money was missing which was in an envelope placed in a book that was inside a closed bag. We talked to the manager on duty, Stan, who was very helpful and apologetic and we filed a police report. We were then directed to the gm who was completely rude and very uncaring. He told my boyfriend it was HIS fault the money had been stolen and that he was not going to refund a single cent of his money. On top of this, the power had gone out in the entire city and we were without power in our room for 24 hours! While I understand this was not the hotel's fault, they did nothing to accommodate their guests during this unfortunate episode. Nothing was explained to us about the power outage or when the power would be back. We had to sleep in a room with no air conditioning in the middle of August and the next morning we took ice cold showers. I felt like I was camping! Also, the website expressed there was a free continental breakfast and turn down service which we never received. This was not a relaxing vacation and only caused more hassle for us upon our return home. Do not stay here unless you don't mind the staff violating your personal space and belongs and then blaming you when they steal your personal items.

Vaction the way it was intended to be
My family and I had the pleasure of staying at The River Street in and I must tell you that it was quite pleasurable. We had Two Queen size beds a fire place mantel, Large Flat Screen T.V. A blacony overlooking River street, a nice restroom all in a more than spacious suite. They offer complmentary wine and refreashments during the hrs of 5pm-7pm. The staff is warm and attentive.(Ask for Brandon & make sure to give him a tip; he was every where for everybody) I have paid lots more for way less quailty.

Happy time,and would go back.
Three of us stayed 3 nights....location was excellent for historic area and loved being on the river. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, and pleasant. Room was clean and well kept. The room was a little small, nothing to complain about,we were up graded to river-view, which was a nice surprise.

Just Booked Again
I visited the River Street Inn, in June 2007 with a group of High School Girl Friends. We loved our stay. The staff was couretous, the Inn was beautifully decorated with antiques from the apporpriate era. It was beautiful and I could only imagine all the history this INN had endured, being once part of the Old Cotton Exchange.

We like the inn but.....
the front desk staff is dis-interested and rude. We booked a 2 day stay. we drove all day and imagine our suprise when we had no HOT WATER!! It seems that there is rennovation going on and the plumber turned the water temp too low. So I paid $170 first night to take a fast tepid shower brrr!! The night staff just blamed the plumber and gave me a name of someone to talk to in the morning. After we complained, we called down to find out how to use the "wireless" internet". (We are computer savvy). THe reply was "what" when they answered the phone! No lie- she just said "what". A ruder bunch I have never met. They definitely need to get some lessons in customer care. We had a wonderful bell-hop and the upstairs head maid was very sympathtetic and apologetic. The manager knocked $ off our bill, but I'm sorry if I am a princess and have to have hot water. We had a rennovated room-it was quiet, nicely decorated (streetside) and clean. The hotel is expanding all the time. Soon they will have room service I was told. Hors d'oeuvres and wine were nice at 5 pm. There is a pool table/private lounge and we love being on River Street. The security is pretty good. You have to use your key to make the elevator work. Tip: Stay streetside for less noise. The rooms are cheaper also. I feel if rennovation is going on that the rooms should offer a discount. After all its not a full service hotel is it? IT would ease the inconvenience somewhat if one didn't have to pay full price. I feel sorry for some folks we met. THey had a prepaid balcony room as a gift from their children and had to look at the river through a scaffold. Take my advice-always complain-if things are not up to snuff and get the bill adjusted. I will go back-after rennovations are completed.

Like a Maze, not Amazing!
The Hotel was under construction. Our arrival was to a dumpster outside. The Hotel has some interesting features and our room was really nice, but it was very inconvenient to get to. Depending on the floor you were on, you may have to change elevators twice and go up a ramp, around a corner, and down a long hall to get to your room. Also, we were told we would get a balcony room and did not. River Street is a little like Bourbon Street and we didn't really feel safe or clean. The rate was higher than we were told. While we were checking in, three customers were in dispute with the check-in clerk. They were not very friendly or accommodating. We stayed only long enough for the Paula Deen Tour. The weekend Tour Package was over priced. We checked out and moved closer to City Market which was much nicer.
