The legend of Tantalus tells of a Greek king who was punished for some sin by being eternally faced with appetising food that remained always tantalisingly out of reach. The philosophy of this, the city’s first low-fat restaurant, is that appetising food is there to be enjoyed, and that if you can do so without ingesting copious quantities of cholesterol, then so much the better. The menu offers an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary British and European food, with many dishes being suitable for vegetarians – and almost always with that low-fat twist.
