Back to Battery Carriage House Inn Will never go to a B&B again! My boyfriend and I just spent the night there on October 14th. We did not know about all the haunted stories until the day of so we were pretty excited to be going there. I have never been to a B&B so I was really looking forward to it. Upon our arrival we were given two glasses of wine which was nice since we had just missed the wine and cheese party. When we entered the room we were very disappointed. It was as big as my daughters bedroom (tiny). The room is very old, the tv tiny, needs new paint and the furniture dusty. The chairs in room 10 are so stained you don't want to sit on them. The bed linens where clean and soft--thank God. The lighting around the outside was very dim and the old stairs slippery. We had to hold on to each other to make it to our room because it was rainning and we can barely see. There is absolutely no privacy for romance since you can hear and feel every vibration from the room next to you so forget that possibility--honeymooners. As far as strange happenings--I felt something brush up my legs when I was washing my face at 12:30am before bed. I fixed the crooked picture frame in the bathroom 3x and it kept going back to crooked. The odest thing was that while watching tv the channel switched from food network to weather channel. I think I also got a glimpse of a greening orb light at about 4am when I opened my eyes breefly but I was not fully awake so I don't know if this was my imagination or not. The tension and feeling the room gives you is enough not to make a happy stay and we felt relieved when it was time to go. The next day we had a very early meeting so we decided to return later to see if we can take a look around. It was 11:15a, and when we asked to see the rest of the house the receptionist said that there is nothing to see since the owners live in the main house--very disapointing--all you see is a room. I then asked her to use the restroom and she said there is no bathroom unless we want to get another room! Wow!!! How hospitable! We just spent $189 for one night, return within minutes of check ou and can't even use a bathroom. Never again. Do not waste your money here!!
Reviewed by: Eleni from on Oct 16 2009 Absolutley wonderful! No complaints. Impeccable service. Room was fabulous. Breakfast on a silver tray in the mornings was a wonderful touch. Husband and I spent our 13th wedding anniversary and would recommend this B&B to anyone. The staff were most helpful in restaurant, golf and activity suggestions. A little on the pricey side.
Reviewed by: Chanda from on Jun 16 2009 A Great Visit!! My husband and I spent our 1st wedding celebration here. The breakfast is not a hugh deal, but what they offer will hold you over till the next place!!! We LOVED it!!! The rooms are small, but we did not spend a whole lot of time there! The staff there was very helpful and super sweet. And any advise we asked for was never a wrong turn!! We have a soft spot in our hearts for Charleston!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 05 2008 Don't waste your money! What a waste of money" Tiny room, tiny bathroom, dirty, run down, pathetic breakfast, poor heating system, the TV was a tiny relice from the '80s. Never again.

He was planning to propose and the concierce went above and beyond to help him plan the most perfect evening for us. She arranged a carriage ride and recommended a wonderful restaurant. While we were out, they arranged rose petals and Champaigne. We plan to return on our anneversary for years to come.

Reviewed by: Mark from on Sep 29 2004 A good Charleston Recommendation We stumbled upon this hotel at the tip of Charleston and were pleasantly surprised. The rates are great, the rooms all have a private entrance, breakfast is delivered to your room each day, they offer wine in the evenings. You can do a morning run around the battery to burn off all of that southern cooking in Charleston. Parking is freely available around the hotel.
