Back to Ballastone Inn Over-the-top From the moment we arrived, we knew that we were in for a treat. We were pampered the entire length of our stay. We had wonderful breakfasts with applewood smoked bacon, herb roasted potatoes, and belgium waffles. The high tea was the perfect touch after a long day of touring the city. The staff went above and beyond ther duties to entrust that we enjoy our stay. We will definitely look towards the Ballastone for any future trips to the city of Savannah.
Reviewed by: S. from on Sep 07 2009 Disappointed. Keep your money. The Ballastone's advertised top notch service has definitely been exaggerated. Half of the staff doesn't seem to know what they're doing; whereas, the other half seem very disgruntled. The concierge was the one who seemed to run the show; he was incredibly helpful throughout my stay. The menu was "pseudo-healthy" but tasteless. The silverware placed on my table was filthy. I could enjoy a similar experience for far less than what I paid for.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 22 2009 never again not only was the air conditioning broken on a hot savannah summer night, the "hors doeuvres" were straight out of a costco package. owners haughty and condescenfing ( can't figure out why ) and "breakfast" was garbage at best - served tepid and took far too long. would it have been a decent deal for $150? maybe, but we paid $400. ****also, check gratuity policy - there are signs in the rooms asking that you leave gratuity on your final bill, so all staff 'can be treated fairly'. well, fairly at the ballastone offers a new twist - the owners keep a big portion of the tips for themselves "for overhead and management expenses". huh???????
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 16 2009 Southern Charm In December 2008, we selected Savannah, GA to wed. Neither of us northerners had ever ventured to Savannah, therefore, we wanted our destination ceremony to mirror the values of such an historic venue. After researching a number of bed and breakfasts, the Ballastone Inn's exceptional decor and location stood out. To our relief, the Ballastone's staff were extremely helpful as ceremony details were planned well in advance of our arrival. Thanks to the Ballastone's professional and knowledgeable staff and the inn's breathtaking decor, our wedding/ honeymoon took on greater meaning than we could have imagined. The sophisticated elegance of the Ballastone takes on a life of its own, matched only by the timeless nature of historic Savannah. Throughout our 7-day stay, we, as were other guests, were pampered and completely satisfied. The Ballastone is the essence of friendly, helpful, and courteous southern hospitality. Attention to detail, extraordinary accommodations, and a genuinely peaceful setting defines the Ballastone's most cherished characteristics. A must-experience for any occasion. The Ballastone Inn is truly outstanding and well worth the modest cost. Highly recommended.

Everyone was just so nice and truly went out of their way to accomodate anything you needed or any question you asked. It is a 1st class Inn and then some. We have stayed at other Inns and none have compared to this one. No one could go wrong booking this Inn for their visit.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 21 2008 Absolutely superb! Our first stay at The Ballastone was in 2004 and my husband and I have been back every year since. Finding this inn on the Internet was a true gift. One year, we decided to spend Thanksgiving there, and it was outstanding! We've stayed in a different suite every time, and all at different price points, and always received superior service. The food is amazing, and Charlotte is always ready to share her excellent recipes. Duane and Melissa are terrific, as is the rest of the staff. I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer, the owner, who shares my love of Westies and Cairns.
