Reviewed by: ANNA from on Jun 30 2008 Nice day trip My husband and I stayed at the Westin Hotel in Guatemala City and we hired a private driver and tour guide to take us to La Antigua. We did a walking tour. Our guide was fantastic and we learned a lot of history about the city! The people are so friendly, it is a clean place to visit and the food is wonderful. Now, my husband and I both got parasites from the food, but it was still amazing food. The markets are a fun place to visit and bargain shop. I wish I would have bought twice as much as I did. The drive to and from Guatemala City is very nice...twisting roads through the mountains and lots to look at. A must-see and must-do for adoptive parents or anyone who comes to Guatemala city. It's only a 45 minute drive to La Antigua. The experience is something you will carry with you forever!

Reviewed by: Dave from on Apr 12 2007 hermosa It is a haven. I lived here for about a year and did some volunteer work, and fell in love with the people and culture, but most of all Antigua. Its gorgeous from the architecture to mayan people. The Coffee shops and bars are full of tourist year round. I highly encourage everyone to stop by.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 13 2007 Interesting little town! Antigua is great for it's arcitechture, churches, and museums. Walking on cobblestone all day may tire the feet but it is a great place if you enjoy walking and looking. You will see a bit of everything in Antigua and you can find people from all over. Great place to go to study Spanish as there are fabulous language schools. Be sure to stop by the artisans market for some shopping!
Reviewed by: PackGirl from on Aug 27 2006 Antigua will become a second home Antigua is an incredibly historic city, previously being the capital of Guatemala. The cobble streets, colonial style buildings, good food, internet cafes and very friendly people. It calls you to return. Its close access to the airport and capital city make it ideal to visit.
