Best Fried Clams Anywhere!
We went to the Village Restaurant in Essex, MA on the recommendation of a friend, who said they had the best fried clams anywhere. Our friend was right, period. Not only that, but in a sea of clam shacks, long lines and picnic-style eating, the Village was a refreshing and relaxing oasis. We got a drink while we waited (but the wait wasn't that long) and then were cordially seated in a very comfortable booth. Air conditioning, excellent service, a full bar and great desserts made the entire experience one of the best on our swing through Boston's North Shore. We'd recommend the Village if you're within an hour's drive (that means in or near Boston, MA) -- it's well worth the trip.
