Back to King George Palace Bad service My wife and I were rudely turned away from the lounge where all tables were set aside for the night-life crowd queuing behind a velvet rope, and none for hotel guests. After I complained, hotel management claimed the lounge is under separate management and not their problem (yet they advertise it as a feature). This is not even close to the service that I expected from a supposedly top-notch hotel.

Reviewed by: Mojo from on Feb 15 2007 A Wonderful Hotel Experience Our experience seems to have been quite different than that described in the negative reviews posted here. We are just back from Athens this weekend (January 19-21,2007) where we stayed at the King George. It was wonderful. I travel a great deal and stay at a variety of hotels throughout the world. The King George is an excellent luxury hotel in a very good location. Service is excellent, the rooms are spacious and well appointed. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Our bathroom was quite large with both a bath and separate glassed in shower with a rain head. If you pay for a room with a view of the Acropolis, the view is spectacular. Rooms on floors 4 through 6 on the front of the hotel overlooking Syntagma Square are the only ones with a view of the Acropolis, but it is on an angle off to the right when you are in your room, not as though you had a straight on view. Same angle as the Grand Bretagne right next door. So to actually see the Acropolis from your room, you have to stand at the window. Nevertheless, a spellbinding view. Even better is the view from the roof top restaurant, Tudor Hall, where buffet breakfast (at Euro25 ea) is served each morning. Would definitely stay here again.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 04 2006 DO NOT STAY AT THE KING GEORGE II ATHENS I booked two suites (one for me, one for my mother) at this hotel in September. My mother got a suite, but my room was a less than mediocre hotel room. When I asked the desk clerk, Cici about the room, she said it was a suite and refused to change my room to one like my mother's. Also, when we tried to have dinner at the hotel restaurant, the veranda was full, but dining room was empty. The Maitre d' said there were no seats available. We complained at the front desk, but were only given excuses. The staff are and service are deplorable, the rooms are cold and dank. This is NOT a four star hotel.
