Pure Excellence Wow!!!! that's all i can really say, I had one of the best weekends of my life at Mrs. Elsie's Bed and Breakfast. From the time i pulled up in the drive way until the time i left, it felt like pure pardise. At Mrs. Elsie's not only are you treated with respect..... you are pampered from the time you walk into the front door. As soon as you enter you feel as though you are on a deserted island and all the cares of the world is simply lifted off your shoulders. The theme of Mrs. Elsie's is tropical and mind blowing. Trees were every where and the furniture was so comfortable and colorful that an instant state of joy entered your heart. Me and my girlfriends stayed their for my birthday and we stayed in the King Suite. The bed was so big and when you layed in it; it sourrounded your whole body.... I felt like a baby wrapped in blankets... and lets not even talk about the bathrooms...when we entered there were white fluffy bath robes hanging from the rack.. they were so clean... and pretty i didnt even wanna touch them. and the shower was so big, there was also a bath tub like spa.... god it was so nice. The scent in the bathrooms were breath taking and the theme was also tropical. You dont even need to go on vacation really... i felt like heaven just staying there. Finally, last but not certainly least was the food..... oh my goodness. The food was so excellent...full course meals and excellent desert...prepared right in front of you.... Mrs. elsie also had caribbean music playing which made you feel relaxed and ready to dance...me and my girls ate so much we went straight to sleep, we were so full. We stayed in more than out because we had such a good time. Everyone there was so nice and respectful and actually had very intellectual conversations. They made us feel welcome and Cheryl catered to our every need. I would recommend this to everyone. If your ever in the area dont stay at a boring hotel... stay at Mrs. Elsie's i bet you that you will have the time of your life.... were already planning another trip soon and guess where we are staying... yup you bet... An Excellent Gate-A-Way Experience I needed a quick get-a-way weekend and I landed in heaven. Ms Elsie's Bed and Breakfast is this wonderful hide away that surpass my greatest expectations. At first view the inn looks like a beautiful home hidden away deep off a beautiful residential neighborhood. The inn has a wonderful warm home feel, then it happen the innkeeper Cheryl greeted me. She had the same warm and welcoming spirit that the inn had. She invited me in and the place just blow me away. The place was huge and in the background were the sounds of the steel drums playing a wonderful Caribbean song. I walked off the streets of Charlotte, NC in to the Caribbean. I stayed in the Peach Room that gave me a private section of the inn almost to myself. With the wonderful living room and dinning room that had a wall made up of the most beautiful window wall that over looked the beautiful pool. In the morning I was a woken to the must delightful aroma of food that I had ever smelled in my life. Upon walking out to the dinning room the table was dressed for royalty. The dinning room table was adorned in red and white china and crystal with cloth table linen and napkins. We had a 5-course breakfast of the best food I had every eaten anywhere. With each course Cheryl explained each dish and what would be coming next. And to top it all off the view from the dinning room over looked the beautiful pool on the property. During breakfast I met the other guest and we had wonderful conversation in this beautiful inn. Cheryl told us all about her 8 years she has been blessed with Ms Elsie’s, which is named after her grandmother who had passed away. I was looking for a get-a-way and I found a slice of heaven in NC. This inn was perfect and I will be back again and again and again.
Reviewed by: Karen from on Jul 19 2008 What an awesome experience! After haggling back and forth about what we were going to do this summer for our girlfriends weekend getaway, we all agreed, Ms. Elsie's Caribbean B&B was the place for us!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 17 2008 Would Recommend After Renovations Completed We experienced "pros and cons" during our stay. We chose Ms. Elsie's for a birthday vacation getaway. The Pros: We ordered special items which were excellently presented upon our arrival into the "King Suite." The presentation, the cleanliness and beauty of the King Suite exceeded our expectations at first glance! The large bathroom was a feast for the eyes! The landscaping from the outside of this B&B was quaint and very unassuming, but the decor inside was absolutely beautiful, we were swept away to the Caribbean! Our hostess and chef was pleasant, and each meal was a caribbean delight and elegantly presented! Definitely our favorite part of the weekend! The Cons: The advertisement stated swimming pool, tennis court/basketball court, but we were not allowed to use the Court because of repairs needed (so we were told) and we wondered for how long because the court clearly had not been used for years! The Pool was covered in dead leaves and dead bugs and was never cleaned up for us to use during our stay. We encountered a few large water bugs in the King Suite, one of which dropped into our bed from the canopy or ceiling on our first night's stay! The Jacuzzi had low water pressure so it took forever to fill the tub while it made a constant loud noise resembling old unused pipes cranking up! To add insult to injury, we were told, after the fact, not to use the towels located inside of the bathroom cabinets anymore (we thought those were included since they were in there!) Overall: Our stay was pleasant enough, but for the "price" charged for the King Suite per night, the "amenities" that Ms. Elsie's advertised should have been as excellent as the food!
