Back to Westin Excelsior (The) think before you regret hello all .. i stayed 7 days in this hotel with a group,we had 7 rooms, all of us had the same opinion, we wouldin'd give it a 5 star, and sure wont have had payed that high rate . we would give it a 3 star hotel , and wont pay more than 150 euro per night (was 400Euro)
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 19 2009 Extremely Pleased Excellent room overlooking the Arno. Most comfortable bed wife and I ever slept in. Worth paying extra for the "Baby Moon" package, which includes all you can eat American style buffet breakfast (normally extremely expensive in Italy) and first run pay per view movie each night when you're ready to "crash" after sightseeing and dinner! Staff totally helpful. Outstanding Baccus Restaurant around the corner where we had full meals including bottle of wine and dessert for just 66 euros.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 24 2008 Overpriced Currently still in the hotel. Booked it based upon reviews such as those shown on the your site but can't agree with them. Yes the staff are friendly, but there was no-one at the entrance prepared to take luggage from the taxi upon arrival until I was entering the door. At nearly US500 a night, there is not even a complimentary bottle of water -- that is available for 1,500 Starwood Points. Views of rooftops here; and the bathroom while massive is illogical. Not enough bars for towels. Continental breakfast is Euro 30 for an unimaginative display of buns , half a kiwi, and a glass of orange juice (real at least.) Scrambled eggs Euro 8. Opted not to pay Euro 7 for rice krispies since that would be how much one might pay for a giant size box as opposed to a bowl. If your reviewers are willing to pay these kind of prices for a shower and bed it is no wonder things are in the state that they currently are.
Reviewed by: H from on Jul 13 2008 A Florence Treasure The location of the Westin was great, out of the way a little bit, but close enough to get anywhere you want to go. Beautiful views of the Arno!
Reviewed by: shannonp from on Oct 11 2007 a great site to see and stay. Named one the Top 75 Hotels in Europe by Cond'e Nast Traveler in 2005, and neighboring the famous Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, and Pitti Palace, Westin Excelsior is on Piazza Ognissanti and approximately four miles from Florence Airport. Sitting high on the banks of the Arno River, the hotel also offers views of the panoramic Tuscan countryside, the colored terracotta rooftops, and the landmarks of Florence.

We had a room with a beautiful view and the service was excellent. The concierge helped us find fabulous restaurants. We're counting the days until we return!

The room we stayed in ( with the view of the Arno river)was nothing less than spectacular. We also had a chance to dine at the hotel; the restaurant is just as superb.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 19 2006 Florence was great The hotel was great. Very happy to deal with the staff who were very kind to our 4 year old. It was easy as most of the staff members were fluent in English. Good position, we had a great view of the river. We went in January.....
