Back to Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino Buffet Breakfast was APPALLING A friend of mine said that Mandalay Bay had the best buffet in Vegas. So, Sunday morning, we went on down there for breakfast. I could not have been more disappointed. For a mere $24 per person for my husband and I, we got dried out meat, omelets that took 15 minutes, COLD bread with no way to warm it up...I did get a complimentary glass of champagne, but didn't want to drink a lot in the morning. The iced tea came from the soda machine. The croissants? I've gotten better at Safeway. There was no salt on the table, and when I asked for it, I was told I'd find it on my table. Um?
Reviewed by: Debi from on Nov 10 2009 would go there again staff & service excellent, beach pool amazing, plenty to do in the hotel especially at House of Blues. Only problem was so large and sprawling that you needed a tom tom to find your way abour !!!! Easy access bus route outside hotel if you dont feel like a hike to the strip. overall a really great holiday and would certainly go back there again.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 09 2009 9th stay.....still a great place! We decided to go back to Mandalay when we received a promotion via e-mail. It was the least expensive of all our trips. We stayed Sunday through Thursday nights. Booked the base room and got a pool view which was a nice change...we have had the strip view several times. Room was clean during the entire stay. All staff that we encountered were pleasant. Our check in took about 10 minutes(Sunday evening). Express check out is a breeze. Elevators didn't seem as busy this time although the hotel was nearly full. Yes, the restaurants are on the expensive side....most of the resorts on the strip are about the same. Drinks are very expensive in the big resorts. Stay or eat off strip if that bothers you. We had a 2 for 1 breakfast coupon at House of Blues that we could use every day if we wanted. (Check the little books found in taxis for these). Pools are crowded, so go early in the morning or late in afternoon. Food at the pool was good. It is impressive to lay in the pool and look up to all those gold windows. The bag check personnel (on our last day) are always great...very friendly. Reading all the negative comments about staff, I wonder if we stayed in the same Mandalay! The location is a little distant from other attractions but that also results in less crowding at this hotel. We will keep coming back especially if good promotions continue.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 03 2009 Best place to stay in Las Vegas! First off, everyone seems to be complaining about spending money at Mandalay Bay. Every resort charges for the same things..if you want to save money stay downtown at the four queens or just stay home. Mandalay Bay was by far the best hotel to stay at because it wasn't crowded like the other major hotels filled with tourist walking around looking at everything, playing at your casino and just being too packed. I guess if you like crowds and not being able to find a table to play at Mirage and those other casino may be a better fit. The pool was amazing and there was a lot more to do because of the size of Mandalay. Everyone treated me great, but I guess that's because I wasn't a grumpy old person. The odds on table games was a lot better than playing downtown and the access to Luxor and the transport car was great. I read all of these reviews before I went and really none of them explained how great this hotel is, so I guess everyone needs to decide for themselves but I had a blast and will stay here every time.
