Back to Fairmont Royal York i was so excited to find this! My family has used Carlson Wagonlit Travel to book our holidays for years. Right now they have an awesome giveaway of digital cameras and travel money on their web site when you’re checking out their deals on travel. The link is www.picturethiscwt.com. What’s not to love about that?
Reviewed by: Carrie from on Sep 24 2009 Loved it!!!! We went with our son when he was young and lo and behold, this hotel, while it was being renovated, was the site where one of his favourite movies was filmed, Short Circuit 2. The food was excellent in the hotel and everyone was very pleasant. It was horrendously expensive as the Canadian dollar was much stonger against the American dollar so watch the rates of exchange. We were close to everything including the Hockey Hall of Fame, the train station and all of the underground. We went in the summer and the weather was wonderful. I'd go back in a minute! Toronto is an incredible city, very kid-friendly, and all of the restaurants, four star and all, have children's menus.

Reviewed by: andrew from on Apr 12 2009 Not Impressed I've stayed at a few Fairmont Hotels and always enjoyed them so when I came to Toronto for a week I booked my stay at the Royal York. Unfortunately this was by far the least impressive Fairmont that I have been to. The lobby is beautiful and the location is great, but I found the rest of the hotel rather rundown and in serious need of renovation. I stayed on the 15th floor and was turned off by the low ceilings, odd church basement type smell, and ratty carpet with duct tape covering some areas. My room was also very small and showed a lot of wear and age; two lamps did not work, the TV was very small and old with a weak signal on many channels, the internet was not wireless, and the carpet had stains. I also found a broken wineglass under the edge of the bed sitting in a dried pool of red wine and could have easily sliced open my foot if I hadn't been wearing shoes. What was also very unfortunate is that the room had a comanding view of the waterfront but it was totally ruined by a thick layer of dirt and grime all over the exterior of the glass and some sort of outside sash that was half raised so that a huge bar was right at eye level. Fairmont loves to boast about their superior attention to detail but I found that the details were where it all fell apart. It's really too bad because this hotel has great bones and the people working there were extremely helpful but it's just a huge letdown.

Reviewed by: Flo from on Mar 29 2008 Great hotel in a great location Our experience at the Fairmount Royal York was great. The hotel is both historic with the most up-to-date modern amenities. The room was both quiet and clean, and concierge staff was great at assisting us with sightseeing tours of Toronto. Look forward to staying here again.
Reviewed by: George from on Oct 11 2007 WILL NEVER GO BACK I want to inform you of the issues I encountered on my stay at the Fairmont Royal York the night of 09/08. I’m very disappointed in the actions of some of your employees. My Sunday 09/09 morning started with a housekeeping lady knocking and attempting to walk into my room (8-160) at 9am. If we had not placed the bar across the door she would have been in the room immediately after knocking. We advised her we were there and she should leave. I did call to the front desk to advise them of us being awakened. Within ten minutes she was back and attempted getting in the room for a second time. I then again called the front desk to complain.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 10 2007 Would definitely stay again Location to all downtown attractions, subway, Hockey Hall of Fame, Hummingbird Place was ideal. Although the rooms are a bit small and modest, shopping and dining within the hotel provide many options.
