Back to Café St Honoré Understated quality This restaurant has understated quality. I had braised duck with mashed potato. Initially on tasting it I wasn't blown away, but this food slowly grows on you in a way that subtle, expertly home-cooked food sometimes does. The mashed potato was wonderful and the simple stock gravy so much nicer than over-concentrated reductions sometimes are. My wife's venison was also very well received.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 24 2006 disappointed I went to this restaurant recently with my husband and two friends. We love to go out to eat and this was suppose to be a real treat. We would normally not spend this kind of money on a meal unless we thought that it was going to be outstanding. We arrived and our table was not ready. When we arrived the second time we were seated and ordered. I had pigeon as a started and duck as a main. The pigeon was nice with a mustard mash but nothing out of this world. The duck was too well done. I ordered it on the rare side and it came out barely pink. I felt like sending it back but did not want to be rude. I thought that the dessert would make up for the lack of creativity and over cooked duck but it did not. As steamed pear pudding with cinnamon ice cream was very dry and really nothing to write home about. I will not go back to this restaurant! I would rather go to paris for the day and have a real meal. Thanks for nothing and taking that £200 pounds off me St Honore, it was gettting heavy! Totally over-rated!
