Classy
I like the classy-ness of the hotel. It feels old school with a respectful classic feel. Everyone is very "aloha" and professional. Hawaiian residents are very family oriented and make you feel at home. I love that. The only down side is that we got a room at first in the historical part of the bldg. and it was a cityview room. do not get one if you don't like noise when you sleep. It's so noisy, it's like your windows are open and the noise is on your side of the block. You hear the entertainment across the street like it's in front of your window. Also a good thing is the international market is really across the street and is so fun to go to really everyday to find fun souvenirs for your family. You really can deal with the vendors. Go towards the back for better deals. They don't get as much business and they'll want yours....Overall the hotel is awesome. I'm a young 31 year old mom with a 10yr old and it was very nice for us. Hope you have a good time!

Historic landmark at Waikiki
This hotel is 1 of the landmarks along Waikiki. The hotel rooms are big and has that oahana feeling. The bad thing about Moana was that theres no free wifi in the rooms =(

Third Time... not a charm
Stayed in this hotel over Thanksgiving 2008 - my third time at Moana Surfrider. First couple of times were outstanding! Old world charm with great service and ambiance.

Transported to bliss
Wow what a place. The building is so beautiful, Victorian like and elegant. Front porch offering large wooden rocking chairs.

SO NICE
Well the service was great. The view from you're room is so beautiful, the only thing that doesn't seem too great is the money. Lot's of money. The people there are nice and kind. And it's great to bring the kids, and to enjoy a swim, and a massage. Great place looking forward to going back.

Superb!!
My husband and I just returned home after celebrating our 34th anniversary by staying at the Moana Surfrider. The Old World charm was magnificent and the service we received was perfect, which gave it "character" not seen anywhere else. Just sitting on the veranda gave us the feeling of "home". Thank you for a memorable vacation! The staff, location and service were superb!!

Love it - can't wait to return!
My husband and I visit Hawaii twice every year and always stay at the Moana Surfrider. As a returning guest they treat us like family. I am always amazed that everyone seems to remember us. The Beach Bar is the best in all of Waikiki - at night you can listen to the lovely music while the ocean breezes cool you off. The hotel is currently being upgraded to a Westin Resort so there were some construction noises in November, but nothing too bad. We always stay in the tower and the view is fabulous. They have the most comfortable beds ever. We never get a car because we can walk where we want to go. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great experience.

Excellent
I loved it. I did NOT dsislike any part of staying there. I liked our room. I liked breakfast every morning. I liked the veranda's rocking chairs. I do not swim but I liked the activity on the beach. The Banyon Tree was beautiful. I liked the Xmas spirit in the lobby and the collection of l9 Century clothes. I loved the decorations.

Would love to return!
My hubby and I went to Hawaii for the very first time in December 2006 for our 8th wedding anniversary which is Christmas Eve. We came to the Moana on the advice of a friend who had vacationed there with his wife. When we first arrived, we were stunned at the beauty of the hotel, the old world charm and the beautiful holiday decorations were outstanding. The Gingerbread town in the lobby was gorgeous and the sweet smell of it was all around. We had a room in the Historic part of the hotel...with an ocean view, which was very quiet. We could see Diamond Head from our room as well as the beautiful beach. The room was cozy and clean, the bed was extra comfortable. The staff was wonderful. Our luggage was late and the hotel notified us when it arrived and bought it right up to the room.
