Back to San Miniato al Monte San Minaito - A Serene Surprise! I agree! The Bascilica of San Minaito is the essence of Florence! The view of Florence was astounding, not to mention the inside of the bascilica! One of the monk was playing the organ when we arrived which only added to the atmosphere. The attached monestary and graveyard attached added to its charm. The inside of the basicilla had wonderful artwork by the masters,a beautiful alter area, and charcter all its own. It is hard to express in words the way it made us feel as we entered the church. There were no crowds and it was very peaceful. It was truly one of our favorite stops in Florence - and a pleasant surprise! It was very worthhile to see.

Standing right outside of the church is the best view of Florence you'll get. Not only is the view amazing, but you have to go into the church as well. It is the most unique and beautiful layout, and very peaceful. It is definitely a must see in Florence.
